PS3 not responding

Recommended Posts

I was playing Ratchet and Clank future and suddenly the screen went haywire, so I turned the PS3 off from the back and after 5 min I try to turn back of again and pressed the power button it turned on but I can't see anything on the screen. It does load the game disk in the drive but nothing happens no sound no video. I am freaking out here, can someone tell me what's going on.

Weird how your name is neo and it looks like the matrix on your TV. I would suggest turning the TV and ps3 off, disconnecting and reconnecting the component cable, hdmi cable or whatever you use to connect the TV and PS3. Once in standby try holding the power button for about 5 seconds. Hope it helps

Yep - As RPatel said, try leaving the system in standby. Then hold the power button until it beeps three times. Reset the video (for lack of better words) and see if it helps. Otherwise, ring Sony.

Well I just turned it back on again after checking all the connection and reseting the video setting. Here what it looks like.

How did you get that window in the top left hand side? Do you have the PC hooked up to the TV as well?

As for what's going on, looks like it's video card related :/

If you're on HDMI, try using standard hookups and vice versa!

@ Game

It works sometime so it doesn't look like it the setup that I have; besides I don't have any other cable (unless I buy or go thru all my stuff to find it).

@ RPatel & TDQuiksilver

I did tried it last night and it worked, until I got this

Doesn't look too good. One more thing I would try: If you can access XMB, try restoring the console to it's factory state. If that doesn't work... again, time to ring Sony. :(

WTF is with support they answered after 20 min and finally a guy answers and f**king rude as hell. I explained what happen and he told me to unplugged everything and put back in as in order he says, by mistake I plugged in the component cable to monitor before I plugged in the power cord to the monitor and he got ****ed and told me to unplug everything and do it all over again.

It didn?t work so he told me to use the cable came with the system so now I have to find that damn thing, I know it somewhere her:(:( .

One of the first things id do in my "problem solving" mindset before phoning support. I exhaust every possibility first.

I would have dug out the cable before wasting money on support calls. Your PS3 obviously has a serious problem, as it's giving you error codes.

In what order you plug in the cables, has **** all to do with it.

I ****ing hate phoning 1st line support, they are just robots reading from a manual. No use of common sense, and no real knowledge of the product.

I really hate to say this but truly Sony?s customer support is the worst one I have encountered; I am not just saying that I had run in with 2 RRoD with my 360 and some other minor arcade problems.

Well I restored the system to original setting (fully formatted HDD), and tried both with Component and RCA cable both works for like 10 min and the screen goes matrix again...

Sorry to hear that. Time to ring up Sony and ask for a replacement, only option I see left.

I called them today woman answered which was better than those 2 as whole last time I got. She's going to send the box to get the ps3 service; I do have a question though. Will I get the same system or l will get refurbished one.

No clue how Sony does it. I honestly have not heard or read enough stories about PS3's dying to know.

You will either get a new or refurbished, but more than likely not your same machine as it could take a bit to repair the machine, it is faster to send a new or refurb. Also, did they say if you should take the hard drive out of the machine first, like with the 360 you detacth the hard drive? I am just curious to know.

No I asked her about that since I had mailed my 360 twice, she said you will get the letter of what should I put I the box but you will need to put PS3 and the cable too. So I am thinking PS3, power cord, RCA cable and Composite Cable (she said if it's made by Sony then I should send it in too, even though I bought it separately). I also asked if I will get my same system or not she said yes I will but somehow I doubt it, my ps3 has 4 USB and its backward compatible.

I don't care if I get a new one or not but I want don't want someone else old one. I tried to make sure that I don't scratch my console it in perfect condition that it came with. Also I was almost out of luck since I bought it in April '07 and I had 3 months left on the warranty.
