omganinja
I'm not sure if this is a Windows problem or a Firefox problem, all I know is that its quite annoying. When I click a link to a jpg file, firefox seems to think its a Winrar archive and downloads the file instead of just displaying it. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone have any ideas how to fix it?
Underking
You'll need to ensure Firefox knows how to handle .jpegs Go to Tools > Options and go into the Content tab, which should be set as shown in the screenshot. You will also want to go into Manage, and if you see .jpeg in that list, highlight it and click Remove Action. Then just restart Firefox and try to view a jpeg, all should be well :)

Yusuf M. Veteran Posted January 7, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 7, 2008 I have the same issue but it doesn't happen too often. I also get it with HTML files. I haven't changed anything in Firefox so it can't be my fault.
Joel
That setting is most likely server-side. Is it every image link that opens like that, or just that domain? I just tried it, it's that site, not your Firefox that's the trouble.
Jimmie
The file is being served as "application/force-download". The same thing happens with IE. http://web-sniffer.net/?url=http%3A//wallp...8_1920x1200.jpg
omganinja
OK, thanks for the help. Is there any reason they have set the server that way, its becoming more and more frequent and its extremely annoying.
The_Decryptor Veteran Posted January 8, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) Who knows, Flickr does it so when you click the download link, it shows the download dialog. All I know is that it's really annoying. Edit: I just checked, on my system application/force-download is associated with WMP, no idea why.
