Arda82
guys hi... i am getting a PS3 tomorrow.. I am living in Turkey and sometimes we do not have the latest PS3 games (original). If i buy games online lets say from England or USA, will they work on my PS3 which i will be purchasing in turkey? is there a region identification like how DVD discs have? or is it global? thank you. Coldgunner
games will work, I assume your dvd is region 2, so thats what the ps3 will take and blu ray region B/region free discs.

Arda82
ahh thanx for the replies.. i am glad that the games are region free.. :) also the games in turkey are around 110 US dollars :( which sux and its half price in other countries... Nice... And i wont be using my ps3 for dvd movies since i use my home theater for that.. But bluray is a future that I am definitely looking for... One other question. I will get the 60 gb version. Is it a good choice? i wont use ps2 games at all. I would get the 40 gb version but i believe it does not have wifi in it. Also is the HDMI cable included or should i purchase it elsewhere? thank you...

PS3 does a pretty good job of upscaling DVDs you should see how it compares to your home theater set, you can always still hook it up to the home theater for audio. PS3 does not include HDMI cable, almost anyone will do. The more expensive ones have more shielding but thats not needed in most cases. Once you get your PS3 and hook it up to HDMI be sure to go to the settings tab, then go down to video settings. In there turn RGB settings to "Full" instead of "Limited", and also turn On Super white. These don't work on all TVs if so it will just change back if you don't press anything after you change it. But if your TV supports it changing these two video settings makes the colors far better. 40GB includes Wi-Fi so feel free to go for that one and save a few $$$

SnowRanger13
thanx for the info cloudstrife 13... What is the SACD support though? also since i wont be using PS2 games i wont need the flash card reader right? since PS3 saves games to the harddisk... Check my post above I added a bunch of info. SACD is Super Audio CD, there not very popular. It's higher quietly sound and 5 channel and 1 sub instead of normal CDs only have 2 channels. If you don't know what they are you probably don't need SACD. The flash card reader is good to transfer files between PS3 and another PS3, or playing pictures from your Digital cameras memory card on your big screen. But you can also transfer files with USB flash drives just as easy.

I wont mind having SACD support for now though as i see it is a great future it wont hurt not to have. And it seems i wont need the flash card reader as well.. Which tells me that the 40gb edition is the best option to go at this point... So i will get my PS3 and a HDMI cable.. Hook HDMI cable to my panasonic vieja HD ready plasma TV , and since my home theater 5.1 is connected to the TV, i will be able to get the audio of the games from the hometheater as well. that will be great. I was wonderiing if i would be able to use my home theater with PS3 since i am not pluging ps3 to the hometheater but only to the tv (hometheater is connected to my tv via scart) I am definitely going to have a bluray collection as i believe the quality is much beter than DVD. I hope the prices come down in the future. I will also make the HDMI adjustments in the console once i set it up. Thank you a lot.. You cleared the question marks in my head.. I was going to get the 60gb and spend extra unnceseccary money. I owe u one cloudstrife13 :)
SnowRanger13
Hey no problem. As for your home theater system does it have optical? Just because your using HDMI for Video doesn't mean you have to for audio. You can output audio though optical or though the old White and Red cables (white and red ones come with PS3 if you were to do optical you'd need a optical cable too). Not going to lie I don't know much about scart, my guess is its sound quality is better then the old white and red but I think Optical is higher. Don't take my word for it check somewhere else first. Martog
I really doubt you'd use SACD, I think it really only took off in Japan anyhow. The 40GB does seem like the best option for you, that is what I have and it suits my needs for a PS3 just fine. I think optical is one of the highest grade for audio, not sure if SCART comes close to it or not, not to mention toslink connector's are pretty standard across the world. And i will get the HDMI cable for video and optic for audio... so i should be good... Thanx god my plasma screen is big and it will be fun to play the games because as far as i know ps3 games graphics can never come close to my geforce 8800 gtx at all... After playing crysis i wonder if i will be incredibly dissapointed at any ps3 game :(
Martog
The PS3 and 360 are definately powerful, but memory limitations as well as GPU in both systems limit to what they can do. The 360 and PS3 still look really good though at 1080p on my TV, no complaints here, I know the limitations.
