Running Windows Live Writer in Linux?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I've tried many alternatives to this program, but there's really no other one like it. And since I'm a full time blogger, it's probably the program I use the most. The problem is, I wanna switch to Ubuntu entirely, so it'd be awesome if there was a way to run Live Writer in Linux.

So, is there a way? Or is there any program like parallels for ubuntu which would let me run, say, XP alongside Ubuntu (not on a virtual PC, but more like alongside it)

Parallells functionality on Linux is provided by Vmware Workstation. Parallells and Vmware both use Virtualization, so I don't know what you mean by "not on a virtual PC, but more like alongside it". There is a significant performance hit if your processor does not support Intel VT, and such a situation makes it non-fun to use. If you have a newer processor supporting intel VT with enough ram to run XP in virtualization, even if it's a single-core processor, you're surely better off running Vista instead.

It's much more practical to run Ubuntu in virtualization with Vmware Workstation under XP or Vista, since Ubuntu is supposedly lighter-weight. I use Linux based bruteforce tools on my Vista box using vmware all teh time, and with the intel VT, it's no problem.
