PSP 3.80 M33 CFW to be released tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I've got a quick question regarding this custom firmware: Would installing it disable online gaming on the PSP? When you connect to an infrastructure game, it does that DNAS check. Will it pick up on the custom firmware and kick me off or ban my PSP altogether?

Nope!

Yeah every function of the PSP works fine in CFW.

The reason some of us are saying "remote play will work again!" is because with PS3 firmware 2.10 you HAVE to be running PSP firmware 3.80 for remote play to work.

Thank you for your help AudioBoxer. And thanks for posting all this PSP/PS3 news. Love reading the articles.

Seems there may be a bit of a further delay. Hopefully it's still out today (not that it matters as much to me, I'll be sticking to 3.71 so I can use this theme when it's released).

We've been getting reports that, despite the announcement yesterday from Mathieulh, Dark AleX and the rest of Team M33 will not be able to release CFW PSP 3.80 M33 on time. Everyone's been on their toes for the projected release today, but as it turns out, we might have to wait just a little bit longer.

In a recent post by Ketchup in PSP-Gen, we learn of the explanation given by Mathieulh:

According to our information, some technical problems remain and as us mathieulh points out it so well, the [motto] of the TEAM M33 is "quality above all".

In light, Dark_AleX still seems to have some small adjustments to make and it prefers to take its time before putting on line its Custom Firmware 3.80 M33.

Though it is, it is the wisest decision because nothing presses.

Knowing the talent of Dark_AleX, this delay could be of a few days, or only of a few hours. For the moment, no one does not know it.

More adjustments? As if sneaking in that last minute CFW Network Update feature wasn't cool enough, is DAX cooking up something else for us? Maybe "some small adjustments" here simply mean bug fixes - they did after all had a bit of trouble with the NID translations.

We've been checking out Dark AleX's official site though, and we've been noticing that it's been going on and off today. Their site's been under maintenance for about an hour now (screencapped above). At first we assumed that maybe it's in preparation for the eventual release - maybe this is part of the "technical problems" that Math stated.

For what it's worth, they could be priming their site to take the brunt of all those downloads and traffic once they release CFW 3.80.

Let's all hope now for a smooth release for DAX's CFW 3.80 M33. Just wait patiently guys. As Ketchup posts, who knows? It could be in just a few hours or minutes that the CFW hits us in all its glory.

When is this officially out in Spain and globally...ETA? DAX keeps postponing. Is this the version that wil have the PSP Radio, GPS, Skype and new features?

*Update* Just a minor update for all of you guys keeping tabs on CFW PSP 3.80 M33. Dark AleX's website is now back in business looking a tad bit different than before. Unfortunately, as you can see, the CFW 3.80 is still no where in site, err, sight.

Stay patient... We're still not sure as to how stable the site is now, or if the site going back online might mean a very, very imminent release. Stay tuned!

*Update 2* Alright, we know we're a tad late for this, and we're sure some of you have already caught whiff of it already, but we're posting this for posterity's sake - to document what exactly is happening and to keep the others updated.

As commented by johnnyp_777 and FreePlay, we get some updates from Team M33 over IRC. Turns out they called it a night, and we can MAYBE expect the release tomorrow:

We finally spotted the issue but don't expect a release too soon, it will be released done and fixed. Thanks for your undestanding

please people stop releasing fake M33 binaries or I add the word "M33" to the spam filter, thank you for your understanding.

good news we found precisely where the issue is and are currently fixing it, then it will be "testing time"

Again a global will be issued here and at malloc.us whenever the 3.80M33 becomes available, there is no need for refreshing the dark-alex.org page

Ok it wont be tonight folks, we need some decent sleep in here, tomorrow MAYBE.

Congratulations to the team for finally pin-pointing the bugs! Hope things go smoothly from here on out! Remember, no rush needed... Hope you guys also got some much-needed rest!

Yep, no 1.50 kernel yet. I'll be waiting on this one (as I always do with new releases) until some themes are converted to it. I just can't stand the default one

What homebrew apps are you guys using that still require the 1.5 Kernel? Most of the good ones were updated, i was under the impression that there was hardly any 1.5 Kernel Stuff left now?

Man I still wish I have my PSP. Just out of curiosity, will it work with the current PSP slim just released and is there a guide somewhere to show you step by step instructions to install this?

i'm only using dgen for sega games and another snes emulator, whenever i open them i get a cannot start error.

Any custom Firmware over 3.52 does not have 1.5 included in it, it's a add on. The add on for 3.80 custom is not out yet and 1.50 is not supported at all on slim PSPs.

If you go to the links above they have remade versions of all the emulator that work on firmware versions 3.00+

Yes slim PSPs are fully hackable but they require a pandoras battery and a magic memory stick. basically you need a spare memory stick at least 256mb in size, and a spare battery. You can recover them afterwards but once there made it's smarter to keep them as just putting them in a PSP and turning a PSP and it's hacked.

You'll have to find the guide your self but you want to make a pandoras battery... trust me you do.

I don't think their are any Universal IR remote homebrew (like IR Commander & Universal PSP Remote) that works without the 1.5 kernel among a few others; MSTest and TasKPSP come to mind.

Guide for creating a Pandora's Battery.

Installing 3.80 M33 CFW.

You need access to a PSP that already has CFW on it to create the Pandora's Battery, however. If you don't, Datel makes a pre-made battery, or you can get one that is pre-made from places like Ebay. You will still need to pcik up a Jig Stick along with the battery too though, again, Ebay is a place you can pick one up.

What the, I thought DA got the 1.5 kernel to work? Crap! Most (if not all) of my homebrew relies on the 1.5 kernel :( Does anyone know if I can downgrade?

http://pspslimhacks.com/

every homebrew and emulator on this site works with CFW 3.00+ meaning you don't need 1.5

The 1.5 add-on will probably be here in a day or two.

Edit: The 1.5 add-on for CFW 3.80 is already out

http://www.dark-alex.org/150k_addon.rar

NOTE: THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH SLIM PSPs, DO NOT TRY.

I bought a PSP the day it released in my country - quite a few years ago

Bought GTA: Liberty City Stories and completed... never got around to buying a bigger memorystick but I did crack the firmware.

What do you use your cracked PSP for? Is there any reason for me to update to the newest cracked firmware and buy a huge memory stick? :p

it adds quite a few features,

Homebrew probably the best, i use Pimpstreamer to stream movies from my PC to my PSP. Theres loads of other homebrew, emulators etc.

No UMD disc now need to run "backed up" games. Saves the battery quite a bit and playing games from memory stick aswell saves battery and decreases loading times. You can overclock psp have TRUE custom themes not just backgrounds and icons i mean the full shabang!. Theres loads of things it can do when theres custom firmware on it, best places to look are:

www.pspupdates.com

www.maxconsole.net (the forums are pretty good)
