EDIT 14: Futher tapped power of PS3... more enemies onscreen, better AI, better lighting and shaders (SCREENSHOTS LOOK AMAZING!!!). More comples normal mapping and detail mapping combine to deliver textures that look amazing from afar and at extremely close distances. EDIT 15: AI getting a lot more attention.. will scaled on-the-fly to players perspective and viewpoint... aka enemies cloesr to the player will actually have more spohisicated AI routines than those further away. assailants in your direct field of view received heightened intelligence. easily more cunning than before sorry for typos... typing fast EDIT 16: listened to complaints... working on solution to long checkpoints and health system. not positive what final solution will be. Keito
Nice ^_^ hope to see them improving the multiplayer though... COD4 just got so many things right, so it's going to have to be great if I'm going to play R:FOM2 MP a lot :p

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 11, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 11, 2008 60 people online :o As Resistance was a launch title, you just knew these guys could outdo themselves with a more time with the PS3! Can't wait for this. Score up another great PS3 game for 2008!
DrunknMunky Veteran Posted January 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 11, 2008 Sounds too good to be true imo, but hopefully I'm wrong. It's good and all saying you have 60 players in a match, but at what cost does with the connectivity.

Hardly any, if any home user could host a 60 person server. Well what they done was create a PS3 server farm
Xero
Sounds awesome, I really hoped they would come out with a sequel relatively soon. I loved the story in it, I thought it was a really cool concept. I'm not interested in the 8 player co-op. That sounds ****in sweet.

red.
Sounds good, i'll just wait to see how it turns out. I liked the co-op in the original, this time 8 player co-op sounds sweet. I haven't tried this out on my resitance but can more than one player locally play online multiplayer? If they could it on the new game then i'd be really happy! DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 11, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 11, 2008 Call me crazy, but the news of 60 people is actually off putting to me. 60 people work in a game like Battlefield 2. In a game like Resistance, it just sounds like a crazed, i.e. not so fun at all, experience. And I know there will be vehicles, but call me skeptical since there were no Vehicles in the first one that they can add them into this one and get it absolutely right. Vehicles are absolutely imperative in a game with that many people. Imperative. I think 32 players, 40 tops, works for a game whose game-play is what Resistance's game-play is/was. Perhaps they are making major upgrades to the gameplay, but I for one tend to think if it ain't broke don't fix it, and I personally really liked Resistance 1. Hmm, this is making me almost want to fire it up and get my ass handed to me. That was the only issue, I was late to Resistance as I did not get a PS3 at launch and people online were just serving me my ass constantly. Regardless, looking forward to playing this game. 8 Player SP CoOp sounds great. Funny enough I subscribe to Game Informer, and I am home sick with bronchitis, and I just checked and no GI today for me.

-=Outlaw=-
60 players is plain stupid imo. here is an example "ey follow me over there" umm other guy "follow who, whoz talkin" then he is like "im talkin just follow me" lol communication will not be good at all. i think the beiggest multiplayer number should be 32. Julius Caro
OH MY GOD!! I hardly get into 40p matches in RFoM. When I installed the map pack 2, I could never get in anything that had over 8 players, I guess some bug due to having to give "priority" to the new maps (so that you feel that you paid for something ,you know). When I removed the map pack 2, it was all back to normal, but still I seldom get into a match with more than 20-24 players. I dont care about 60p if it's done right. Loving how those enhanced chimeras looK!!!
Ayepecks
Found another link for scans: http://marktwaineffect.blogspot.com/2008/0...ormer-cans.html Look good, but nothing ground-breaking.
Gavin001
Why r people complaining about it bein 60 players online? its not like ur gona be forced to make a 60 player room just lower the player count to 30....25.....40.....watever u want, thats that problem sorted! I didnt expect anything ground breaking graphically as it is tryin to push 60 players online but i hope they hav some new awesome guns for us....and the chimera look even more badass now lol! American Ninja
NeoGAFfer Wollan received the latest issue of Game Informer magazine today, and breathlessly rushed to his computer to transcribe details about the cover story - Insomniac's Resistance 2, the follow up to one of the PlayStation 3's biggest hits (and only really good launch title) Resistance: Fall of Man. Highlights include two story modes, one for single player and one for either split-screen local play or 8 player co-op. Also of note is the introduction of character classes, with players being able to choose from a tank, a specialist, or a medic for multiplayer goodness. Speaking of multiplayer, the game will support up to 60 players online, with players forming up in 4-8 man squads in the lobbies with different objectives during the match to help keep things from devolving into giant free-for-alls. Other details include limited randomized geometry within levels to keep things fresh, graphics and performance that tap more PS3 power than ever before, and much, much more. Check out the GAF thread to see Wollan's complete write-up, or better yet just get your hands on a copy of Game Informer as soon as humanly possible. I've not known their writers to be given to unnecessary hype, so when they end a story with "Resistance 2 will be too epic to dismiss as anything but one of the biggest, boldest, and most high-reaching titles of 2008. It's a game that won't be ignored", I can't help but get just a little excited. Source: http://kotaku.com/343946/game-informer-reveals-resistance-2 :woot: More from GAF: ? One campaign focusing on Nathan Hale across USA ? One separate story based campaign supporting 2 players offline, 8 players Online ? Online Multiplayer (dedicated servers) supporting 60 people, lobbies for individual squads ? Classes for online, templates include Heavy, Special Ops, Medic ? Mobile phone quality headset voice transfer ? Partial randomized geometry in level spots ? Boss fights in FPS gaming finally done right ? New vehicles including Chameleon (Stalker with cloak) ? Insane stat tracking & community features coupled with MyResistance.net Source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=226865 MEGATON CONFIRMED:woot:;:woot:#33; :woot: :woot:
