Wireless in Fedora 8 not working

Recommended Posts

This problem has been going on since Fedora 8 was released. Here are my setup:

-T60 with AR5008 (Atheros 802.11ABGN) card

-Fedora 8 with all the latest updates

-Nightly builds of Madwifi

-Using NetworkManager in Gnome

The problem is that I can see any network, but it will not associate. The system log says it gets to step 3, then 'association took too long' and goes back to step 0 then to 1 and so on to 3.

This is what I've tried (nothing successful):

-WPA, WEP, and no encryption

-Madwifi nightly builds, Madwifi RPM, and ndiswrapper with latest XP drivers. (all able to see the network)

-NetworkManager and Wlanassistant

-I've blacklisted Ath5k

-Tried a Netgear G router and Linksys G (both with different/no encryption)

If anybody has a suggestion it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ok,I'm resurrecting this thread. I'm finally getting somewhere, but I'm not sure why this works. I'm using nightly builds of Madwifi with the latest updates for Fedora 8. I have eth0 disabled on start up. Next, I right click on network manager and disable networking. Then I re-enable it and my SSID does not show up on the list. I click Connect to other network, type in my SSID and Key and it connects. Can anyone help me figure out how to get this working without going through this process? Thanks!
