roadgeek9
I just installed SuSE Linux 10.3 on my laptop yesterday. I am having some problems with the Synaptics touchpad, though. It will erratically send my web browser back and forth because of some horizontal scrolling setting. How do I disable this?
markwolfe Veteran Posted January 13, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 13, 2008 If you mean "back and forth" as stepping through page history, it sounds like a gestures issue with your application. If you mean it is "scrolling left and right", then it would likely be that horizontal scrolling is enabled (and it would affect any app that has a horizontal scroll bar). This setting is almost surely kept in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Before we go editing that file, check your mouse control panel and see if there are options for horizontal scrolling. roadgeek9
I went through all my settings that had to do with the mouse (SaX2 (SuSE's X11 Control) and GNOME Mouse Preferences), neither one had any settings for a 4/5 button mouse. I am currently using the Synapics Touchpad Driver. I went into xorg.conf and edited it so it would only recognize the touchpad as 3 buttons and restarted X (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace), still same situation. roadgeek9
Looks like I fixed it. It was in Firefox, I had to disable a setting in the configuration for it. Then it worked out.
