3+ years.., depending how serious you are ;)

take some design classes, some photoshop classes, read a photoshop book, look up tutorials on the internet, play around for at least 3 years.

3 to 5 years? i dont agree. it depends on how much you put into it. sooner or later you can reach a technical ceiling...its the creativity that has no boundries. i made some decent stuff in flash in just 3 days and thats got just as steep learnin curve as PS. of course you're not gonna catch on as quick if your a complete noob in all areas of graphic design...but if you have someone to personally show you PS...you can learn more in a single day than weeks of reading tutorials.

now this was my second or third flash movie and i made this on my second day using flash. also i did it in about 40 minutes. basically its just basic music, keypoints and fading effects...but 2 days! theres room for improvement. i know its nothing great by any means, but hey i just started gimme a break :D

Give me your address so I can slap the flash out of you. This is in two days? this is what ANYONE can do in two days, so don't act all proud and advanced. Most people learn that in one day.

yea thanks.

i expected that from you.

since you are the self proclaimed token of graphic design excellence and all.

dont be so cynical to other people's stuff man. i've seen that in a lot of your posts. if you don't like someones work you can just click around it, you don't have to shoot them down and get all defensive.

lol..some people.

It's called tough love. Do I love what I do? hahahahah... HELL YEAH. If I click around it, then that person wont get the crticism they need to proceed further in designs. If you can't take criticism, then you'll never make it far in graphics at all because you'll get alot of it. And as far as being self proclaimed, I'm not the one proclaiming it, other people are. BTW, so you know, when you shoot people down, its not getting defensive, it's all offense. lol...some people.

if you click around it then the person won't get the critism they need? now i suddenly need you (someone i've never met) telling me what i just learned stinks? how about telling me what i need to improve on, avoid or learn next. i never said anything i did was advanced...that would be rediculous. that is a statement you somehow congured up. I will say however that what I made I was proud of. because it served its purpose and I learned something. What I don't need is some guy I don't know telling me its crap. And that he should smack me because of it. WTF? lol. I don't mind critism at all, as long as those who take the time to critism take a little time to offer some insight as well. also, i feel this becoming a trend..so....lol some people.

Note that mat's flash is not that bad for 2 days. I cant freeking do anything in flash... OK It may be because I maximum spent 2 hours in it :p but... Let's see your flash then we'll talk.

i can see bluerei's point.. i mean, we should just swallow our pride and do what those better than us suggest.. rather, take into consideration what they say.. after all.. they've earned the right to criticize.. if someone doesn't like it they can ignore it.. not start an argument.. rather, not start, but not continue, if that may be the case.. :shifty: i admire your work (what i've seen of it thus far), bluerei, and mat987, you're doing good for the time you say you've put in! :p everyone's moving along, the web (some of it =) looks really nice because of people like the two of you! keep at it, mat987

EDIT - i just remembered the topic.. nikush, it will take some reading, but you'll have decent images soon from the start.. you'll approve, at least.. :p that's all that counts, right? tutorials all the way! :woot:

Nikush, seriously just look up on google for "Photoshop Tutorials" and there will be limitless sites with tutorials, and links to more tutorial site, and just keep going. But the best way to go about it is to learn what photoshop can do and what the tools do most importantly, because once you start from scratch, you'll know what tools you will have to use to achieve the desired effect. After that, you are set to go. Good luck. Here is something I made from scratch in photoshop that you can look forward to making later down the road, this program is limitless, also hit www.bertmonroy.com and check out his shiz,, he is amazing. :) (You might want to brighten up the monitor to see details)
