~WinGz~
I finally decided to rid myself of vista. I want to make a move to Linux. But first thing I need to know is how do I partition my harddrive to do this. Also how do I boot into linux rather then vista.
virgo89
If your talking about partitioning the drive and dual booting then this is by far the best tutorial. http://apcmag.com/5046/how_to_dual_boot_vi...installed_first

I dual booted both XP and Ubuntu for several months. Last week I reformatted my hard drive and just installed Ubuntu alone. I hope that eventually you will also come to this. Foub
I actually want to get rid of vista all together just i havent figured out how to do that. If all else fails, format C:. :) All you really have to do is just boot from the Ubuntu CD then double-click on the Install icon, on the LIVE CD desktop, and when it asks where to install choose entire drive and it'll format the whole thing and replace it with Ubuntu. I would recommend using the ext3 format, though. (Like NTFS, or FAT32 under Windows.) Ubuntu is really good at this and easy as well. BTW, if it asks for a mount point put \. markwolfe Veteran Posted January 15, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 15, 2008 ...if it asks for a mount point put \. Just picking on a little detail, but that is the wrong slash. There is a saying I once heard, "If your path has a backslash in it, you are going down the wrong path." Unix uses a regular forward slash, "/", just like web URLs. It is that other OS that points it backwards. ;)

I'm pretty sure Ubuntu's installer has a Guided option to select how big you want the Ubuntu partition to be, no?
