+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 17, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 17, 2008 (edited) According to Surfer Girl, on January 14, 2007 she revealed that Square Enix is remaking games for the PLAYSTATION Network. Today, in the comments section of one of her posts, a questioner asks how Square Enix will remake their games, and what games. Surfer Girl responded "Primarily graphical touches. I hear FF7 (again, not in that rumored all-out remake fashion that has been mention)." If anything, I'd take both Final Fantasy VII on the PLAYSTATION Network and a full-fledged remake. If one, I'd go for the full-fledged though. Source: http://onaxis.blogspot.com/2008/01/surfer-...king-final.html :woot: Although I hope graphical touches = quality we've seen. I don't care if there's new content, just give me next-gen visuals ;) Edited January 17, 2008 by Audioboxer

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 17, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted January 17, 2008 Surfer Girl who?How are we supposed to believe this? :/ Supposedly someone who has contacts :/ http://softrockhallelujah.blogspot.com/ Believe it or not though he/she is right with a lot of things. If you scroll down all the rumours, you'll see things mentioned shortly before large public announcements were made. Obviously skeptical though, but he/she did mention the PSN remakes first of all, and that seems to be happening. No idea if it will be FF7 though. Dumpduck
There's been a lot of talk about a FFVII remake... years ago! and they quit the idea. I don't really believe this, but if it is true... HELL YES!

SnowRanger13
Ahh stop teasing me! I want a FFVII remake to come out... I really think it should just be the FFVII story with FFXIII graphics, screw even doing voice overs... I didn't like the voices on FFVII:AC and I wouldn't like those guys doing FFVII thats for sure. I have no doubts FFVII will get remade eventually, when is the question.

Antaris Veteran Posted January 18, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 18, 2008 Am I the only one who doesn't want it remade? VII was perfect, and why try and best something that can't be beaten? i think an official sequel would be good though! If they do decide to do a remake, I hope its not like the pointless special editions of star wars!

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 18, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted January 18, 2008 VII might me perfect - but VII is also ugly as hell.. Making it unplayable in todays standards :p Looks good on the PSP, but I agree, it needs a facelift. A lot of people might say, "but you'll say it needs a facelift every 5 years!!!" Not really though, if you compare it to FF8 which by todays standards is ugly, but has aged well as its characters actually resemble human likeness (shapes/sizes). FF7 characters look like mutated lego blocks.

I mean we all love the original Sonic and Mario games, but we don't strive to make Sonic look like a real hedgehog and Mario look like Bob Hoskins do we? Sort of. But what you need to understand is Sonic and Mario don't stand in the same realms as FF7. Sonic/Mario are 2D platformers and always should have been (boo to 3D sonic). Mario 3D the exception, as it's actually good. FF7 is an RPG, dealing with emotional subjects such as love/war/life/ect and is therefore clearly trying to mimic human behaviour and human appearance. Therefore there is more of a want to see FF7 in a more human like appearance (by todays standards). Especially after watching Crisis Core as well, makes you want FF7 to be up to scratch! It's just a case of it not aging as well. I'd like to see FF8 remade of course, but it's not as much of a concern as FF7 for the reasons I said earlier. Vortex566
FF7 characters look like mutated lego blocks. Loving the wording there, some games age well. Take a look at Chrono Trigger, the graphics are still okay in a retro way. FF7 as already stated just looks ugly. Of course classics are classics but that is mainly with 2D games, well I think so anyway.
Huleboeren
In reply to Antaris: Sonic and Mario were not in 3D :p The requirements are alot higher compared to 2d games ^^

Early 2D (Mario/Sonic) in comparison to recent 2D hell yeah there are huge improvements, but not as high on the scale in comparison to 3D improvements. seta-san
lets keep in mind these are MINOR touchups just to make it look good on an HDTV. I'd expect the same voiceless text boxes. The same super deformed 3D models with maybe better antialiasing and a little higher res textures. i'm sure that the back grounds will be remade with higher res images... but this won't even remotely look like Advent Children.
