Don't use this anymore since putting a Netgear ReadyNAS on the network. Although it doesn't transcode MKV files I try and avoid those and if I end up with them I just watch in the bedroom via my Acer Revo and XBMC.

Hey all, lately a few mkv's have been giving me issues while trying to stream them through media server. Specifically they say "Data is Corrupt" and I cannot play them at all. HIt has only been recently, and only a certain few. So does anyone know what is up? A new kind of codec perhaps? Do I have to use mkvmerge or some similar app and do something to get them to work? Up until this point in time never had any real issues with mkv files at all, so the few that did not work in the past I just did not watch. So any help here is appreciated. Is there a newer version of media server perhaps? TIA, DL

Is there an updated guide on how to stream mkv's to a PS3? Or is the OP up to date? I'm sick and tired to trying to get my 360 to play them. They're always skippy and laggy.

PS3 Media Server, and yes i know its PS3 but PS3 and xbox use the DLNA protocol for streaming so it works

Actually I have the same problem with SOME mkv files and I am using the above build from day one!

Interesting, i will post back once I use it a few days and see, I just wish I could remember what mkv's it was, I know I deleted them. wacko.gif

Sometimes the program/computer may need to be restarted. I had a issue with Salt earlier, but a restart somehow solved it.

Hmmm, considering I leave my comp on 24/7 and have not restarted it in weeks, this could be the case. Gonna restart once I install the new build.

Another new build though

1.20.412-SB10:
  • Added PMSEncoder 1.3.0
  • PMSEncoder engine is applied by default and doesn't need to keep being added to PMS.conf after saves
  • Removed tsp's bugfixes since they were causing playback problems for Bravia users
  • Mac build now supports update.jar/plugins (issue 766) (if anyone wants to build it)
  • Allow pluggable engines (issue 686)
  • Fixed some code indentation
  • Language changes
  • Updated NSIS from 2.42 to 2.46

1.20.412-SB11:

  • Processes killed cleanly on non-Windows operating system (issue 680)
  • Allow custom MEncoder options at renderer level (from here)
  • English language updates
  • Added full changelog (CHANGELOG-SB.txt in the program folder)
  • Removed the iTunes navigation patch from issue 921 since it broke iTunes support for some users
  • Synchronised with the official build, which adds Android support and preliminary virtual folders support
  • Removed patch from issue 595 which allowed an extra file sorting option because it conflicts with the official build synchronisation
  • 2 weeks later...

1.20.441-SB12:

  • Synchronised with official r441 from r414 (Click here for changelog)
  • Support VOBsub subtitles inside MKV files with MEncoder (from here)
  • Bravia 5500 uses MediaInfo now which fixes codec support (feedback is appreciated on this, please)

Any of you guys run into this new Cinavia BS?

The euro release of Salt is protected with it. I tried to play a backup of mine and it ran fine with a DTS soundtrack. Am I missing something ?

Having tried to watch 1080p over the (wired) network it always has the stop and start thing happen would upgrading my router to one with Gbit ports help or is the 10/100 ports enough?

The router should be fine, as my Linksys 10/100 is just fine... unless your router is somehow slower. Is your computer fast enough for 1080p streaming? Mine is, but if there are subtitles, then it isn't.

I kept having issues playing certain movies that PMS would encode them. It added either "Subtitles" or "encoded" to the title and it would start to play and then PMS would crash. Got sick and tired of it so I went back to TVersity... that's a pain too to get it to connect to the PS3.. .ugh.

    • Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion to bring snowy region, new updates also coming by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Capcom had a surprise waiting for Dragon's Dogma fans today in the Nintendo Direct presentation. The company revealed an expansion for the second installment with a name that should be familiar to series veterans. Coming later this year, Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is promising a massive new region to explore, new monsters, fresh skills to learn, and more. The studio says players will be heading to the Northern region of the world, named Norgan, to find new secrets about an undying "Fallen Dragon." There will be forgotten relics that the protagonist can find to unlock fresh weapons and skills the expansion is introducing. Players will also be able to find mysterious equipment from a previous Arisen as a part of the expansion, all part of 12 Lost Rites Dungeon Challenges they must complete to gain access. In Neowin's own review, I found Dragon's Dogma 2 to be an impressive RPG when it launched back in 2024, giving the title an 8.5/10 for its class variants, companion system, and immersive exploration. "Once a prosperous region of the kingdom of Vermund, it was abandoned many years ago for reasons unknown," says Capcom about the new region. "Long has it been since any soul traveled its paths. Blanketed in heavy snow, these frigid lands are home to savage hordes and creatures of unbelievable power. Those who are capable of vanquishing such fearsome foes, or those who possess a keen eye for exploration, will find themselves rewarded with powerful relics." Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expansion launches on October 9, 2026, with a $29.99 price tag. Ahead of the expansion release, Capcom is also planning to release two free updates to the base game. The first will land tomorrow, June 10, bringing more accessible fast travel with an Eternal Ferrystone and other quality-of-life adjustments. The second update will land sometime in August, aiming to improve frame rates, add more save slots, and bring even more community-requested adjustments. This expanded Dark Arisen edition is also launching on the Nintendo Switch 2 on the same day the content comes to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
    • Classic themes are just the colors on the bar like the olden days, if you use the image themes, it does fancy transparent backgrounds and it makes the elements of the app look like they are transparent bubbles. This sample image shows what it looks like.
    • Good point, unfortunately. NextDNS has far more filters and workarounds than uBlock, and it's easy to implement.
