restore gnome panel settings?

Recommended Posts

I'm using avant window navigator and found a way on the ubuntu forums to completely hide the gnome panel by editing some values in the configuration editor.

Problem is I now want the panel back but I can't remember what the original values were.

Could someone please post their values from /apps/panel/toplevels

That's what the config looks like, I can't post the panel because it's completely hidden :laugh:

well, now this is risky. you can sit on your username folder ( /home/username ) fire off following command after you back it up.

[ rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity ]

and ofcourse restart your gnome-session ( i will suggest press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace ).

Or, instead of removing them, rename them to .gnome.old, .gnome2.old, and so forth. That way you can go back ;)

With no config files, you should get default settings re-created in new files when it starts up again. :D

In theory... :unsure:

I have the same values except for:

auto_hide_size = 2

expand = true

hide_delay = 500

monitor = 0

unhide_delay = 500

x = 0

Hope it helps...

Thanks, worked a treat after I logged out (Y)
