+.Vamp Subscriber² Posted January 23, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 23, 2008 Nothing much just graphical differences if you care about that stuff. Here is from the 1UP review: Source: http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3165508 The reason I said the PS3 version was the one to get IMHO was it was the lead platform. Oooh that's good to know thanks for posting that! I'll be getting the 360 version because I always use custom soundtracks on games like burnout, flatout etc.
williamhook
Grr, stop showing off. :p I wish Sony would hurry up and do their in-game XMB so us PS3-ians could do so. :(
+BeLGaRaTh Subscriber¹ Posted January 23, 2008 Subscriber¹ Share Posted January 23, 2008 OT .. Why do console threads always deteriorate into flamewars about the two consoles? Its getting that bad now that I shy away from them :( BOT .. I was expecting to get my copy today, but it failed to materialise :( Hopefully tomorrow :) Really looking forward to it. New crash mode looks sweet. The only gripe I have, which has been picked up on in most reviews, is the fact that if you fail a mission/race etal you dont get the option to retry, you have to go all the way back to the start :( Pretty bad IMO when in some case you have to race the full length/breadth of the mad :(

+BeLGaRaTh Subscriber¹ Posted January 23, 2008 Subscriber¹ Share Posted January 23, 2008 Any videos of the new crash mode? Only what I have seen on TV reviews/previews, such as GamerTV here in the UK. I know Gamersyde have posted game footage today, so mayber there is some stuff in there? Havent had chance to download it yet :)

cashman Veteran Posted January 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 23, 2008 Also, does this game have 2/4 player splitscreen??
Cloud Constructors
Burnout Paradise is also Dual Shock 3 compatible. I wish Sony would hurry up to release the Dual Shock 3 controllers.
American Ninja
Also, does this game have 2/4 player splitscreen?? No split screen :( Unfortunately, there are a couple other serious flaws in Burnout Paradise. First off, there's no kind of split-screen multiplayer mode -- it only supports online multiplayer play. While this might not seem like that big of a deal for some people, the Burnout series has always been a fantastic party game. The game's accessible gameplay, easy controls, and visceral action made it easy for people to jump in and play and made the game fun to watch. Removing the splitscreen support is an absolutely critical failure for many Burnout fans, and is frankly a shocking feature to leave out. trix
No split screen :( Which is the main reason why I most likely won't get the game :(
+Dick Montage Subscriber² Posted January 24, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 24, 2008 Wow - no split screen? I ALWAYS used to play this as a prty game. That ****es on my fire then. That said, I still have yet to get a PS3 or 360 - so my opinion means pretty much nothing :)
xirtam
Does anyone know if the online play is cross-platform? That would be cool :) (i did a quick google search but found nothing!)
Corris Veteran Posted January 24, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 24, 2008 Does anyone know if the online play is cross-platform? That would be cool :) (i did a quick google search but found nothing!) No its not. Chances are, no game will ever be either. Possibly PC-PS3 in the future, but defiantly not between consoles. williamhook
Got my copy in the post today - it seems to be pretty good, however, I feel it's lacking one thing - GPS. If you complete basically every race in the game except for ONE, it's going to be quite hard to find.....GPS would make it a lot better, in my opinion, and it can't be that hard to add it as an update, can it? Other then that, Online Freeburn is great fun, and the graphics are sweet. Very good game in my opinion. (Y)

(Y) you can view the map and they'll have icons for the events. you can even sort by event type, and it'll check off the events that you've finished already. shouldn't be that hard to find which ones you haven't completed. I don't know why people come to the PS3-PC conclusion before the 360-PC conclusion when Live is the only online platform that has crossed gaming platforms (Xbox Live and Windows Live). It seems more likely that 360-PC cross platform gaming would come first. I'm not trying to flame you or anything, I'm just curious. I do agree, though, that chances are it won't happen at all this generation. -Spenser

Most games people scream for cross play on are FPS games - Obviously kb/m vs controller raises unfair gameplay mechanics. UT3 was on track at one point for crossplay, but in the end they couldn't pull it off technically.

Simple as that really. It's not impossible for either console to be connected with PC players of the same game, just developers don't. And from what I have seen personally so far, certain developers have mentioned a few times about cross platform play between the PS3 and PC, Epic for one, and some companies when talking about MMORPG's and such like, and I think its been mentioned for The Agency, a PC/PS3 game developed by Sony. While I haven't seen much about it being done on the Xbox360, but then to counter that myself, I don't read as many articles on the Xbox360 as I do the PS3, so it very well could of been mentioned quite a bit. Why not just have a "Retry" option?! :(
Nightz
i have made quite an interesting discovery...the game supports in game xmb! well kinda. you can view your friends list, send/receive messages, add friends...basically anything under the friends menu on the real xmb. :D

red.
Heard some good things about this game, apart from the annoying lack of restarts, i might consider picking this up in the future if it becomes cheap. I'm not really a big Burnout fan.
