Agreed - reviews, thought pieces, etc - but done well. Nothing turns people off more than a sloppy effort at a thought piece that's really only skimmed the surface.

Good post, good point. I've always believed that for this site to remain unique it needed to harness the power of its forums + members with a strong brand for independent news.

Come back to us Mr magoo! :D

No copy and paste at all.

1: Errors like "Mozilla Internet Explorer" makes a site look bad. Neowin's newsposters are suppose to fix that.

2: Shows that the Neowin newsposters staff know how to use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V; Even a monkey could do that.

3: Doesnt give a Neowin touch/feeling/opinion to the story.

4: If I wanted to read the original story I would have gone to the original page. Yes I know most people dont go to every tech page, but there are better tech pages that post better frontpage stories than Neowin (and its the truth)

5: If C&P is a must, give always the original source.

Either take the article and write it into your own words or I personally prefer the story not to be even posted.

I think the front page needs content other than news.

More in house reviews, editorials, or tutorials. Anything that could only be found here, and maybe the person's own personal site who made it.

Original content is the key to growth. Copy and paste jobs aren't.

I agree with you completely.

Other than that, I do not think neowin should be exclusively copy/paste or exclusively original - a mix is best.

However, like pointed out, reviews are important - high quality, lots of imagery and just the plain and obvious questions answered. A bit like the good ol' Dazzla did with all his gadgets
