+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 27, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 27, 2008 For those of you who felt gypped by not being able to get a US version of the MGS Anniversary Collection, it seems that Konami is throwing you something of a bone. PlayAsia is currently taking pre-orders for Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection for the PS2 that includes the original Metal Gear Solid as well as the directors cut of Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence. The listed price is $34.90 plus a $4 dollar shipping charge. If you are looking to delve into the world of MGS before MGS 4 comes out, this is the perfect way to do it at a reasonably low price. morficus
awe man, this is just what I was looking for! I played the 1st one but never the 2nd and 3rd. I looked for them on e-bay a few months back but each game was $20+ (too much IMO). $40 for all 3 games is just the kind of deal I like ^_^ ps: does anyone know if the 60gb PS3 beable to play these back? Not sure how well the BC is (even though it is hardware-based right?)

I have played all three of the original games on it, MGS1, 2, 3 and 3 Subsistence - all worked with minor issues (cutscenes flickered sometimes)
Olemus
they should have made these for the ps3 not the ps2 :(

trix
cool, might buy it then, i've only ever borrowed the mgs games off friends before, - never owned them.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 2, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 2, 2008 Hopefully no one imported, as the price in the USA is actually CHEAPER! Metal Gear Solid: Essential Collection - $29.99Contains: * Metal Gear Solid * Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance * Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?cookie...Lt82RKU7JFPWpVw That is a STEAL for $30. Especially as MGS2 Substance (PS2) is fairly rare and costs a lot to buy - http://search.ebay.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-2-...Q3aQ20Substance NO excuse if you haven't played MGS before not to pickup now. American Ninja
I have played them all but I want to play through these again before getting MGS4. So I am buying this for sure! :)
Neo003
They should've made MGS: Essential for PS3 on Blue Ray with all three games in one disk like valve did. Also they should optimize it for PS3 with HD textures at least I would've paid $59.99 easy, that game would've sold a lot too.

Sadly I doubt they have enough time to do that whilst working on MGS4 :( The best they have done is include MS1/2/3 cutscenes (upscaled/visually improved?) in MGS4 flashbacks to remind you of things.
