randomnut
Hey, I noticed in a few threads on here that you can force games to upscale to 1080p by disabling 720 in XMB. How does that work? 560 cant be turned off, and leaving just 1080i/p or just 1080p makes games just run in 560? Is there something i'm missing here? Nicholas-c Veteran Posted January 28, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 28, 2008 99% of games run in 720p as the games them selves aren't 1080p, but then the PS3 will stretch the image to 1080p for your TV, which is ok but not great

When I turn everything off but 1080p, it does force my games to run in that resolution. How it upscales/stretches I don't know, but it does keep the display at 1080p. I don't think it works like the 360, so it probably isn't as effective, but don't take my word on that as I said, I don't know how it upscales/stretches. randomnut
Yeah I have a Samsung m86 TV which has 1080p over all inputs. it's weird after reading the tips I turned off everything but 1080p (560 being unable to be turned off) and it just defaults to that. I do however like the fact that they splash 'full 1080p output' all over the box and all their games are only rendered at 720p, false advertising if there ever was any. I thought all PS3 games had to go by native due to the fact the PS3 doesn't by default upscale. I know when I had RFOM and Pro Evo both said 720p on the box. 360 games are notorious for saying 1080p on the box, but that's because they can due to every game being upscaled by default to 1080p if your set supports it. It might not be native, but they can still say, technically the game IS running in 1080p. edit: It might be saying 1080i on the box. R&C for example supports 720p/1080i native but not 1080p. Sorry I was referring to the PS3 box, the games themselves say 720p. Again I still call false advertising on that one...
