+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 29, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 29, 2008 any damage in this game? ... if i recall correctly at the end of gt4 they said the next gt (could be under a different name) will have some sort of damage .... can anyone confirm? They confirmed damage for GT5 but sadly not for GT5 Prologue. What they did say was damage may arrive as DLC for Prologue at somepoint.
sn00pie
$39.99 is a great price, but I'm pretty sure Canadians will get a heftier price tag of about $49.99 or $59.99. However, I'll still be buying the Prologue and the full game on release day. :) This is the game I bought my PS3 for... so why not.

Coldgunner
Sucks that it costs the same on BD as on PSN :/ psn has two advantages, can buy and download there and then and I don't need the disc in.
sundayx Veteran Posted January 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2008 I wonder why they can't impliment that those with Prologue have a discount to the full game, like a coupon or exclusive DLC.
kazuyette
Wow ! If I'm not mistaken GT5 prologue is just a demo of the full blown GT5, right ? Why is Sony charging for a demo ? Is it because polyphony Digital ran out of cash for finishing the game ? There's something that I don't get here ...

Yes its like having a demo of a more substantial game but Prologue is a full game in its own right.

PiracyX
$39.99 for a glorfied demo? what the hell? It going to cost about ?34.99 here in UK in that case, what a rip off ($39.99 is ?27 converted but we pay more don't we) I am pretty annoyed by this. I mean i am considering getting s PS3, but not if Sony is doing this sort of thing but milking the same game twice and expect to get a bonus out of just because they can't get the game ready in time for when they wanted. They have already made the Prologue version in Japan so why is it going to take until April for it to hit in the US? and when does UK decide to have it, Summer?? You can just tell GT5 (Full version) will not be out this year, at least for US and Europe.
Mike
unless you people missed something, there was a gt4 prologue and guess what? that cost too! didn't see many complain then so why now? the only things that'll be in both games would be the cars / tracks, the tests in it will be different and the objective is different so how is it a demo? crazzyyfool
Don't buy it then if you think it costs to much, no one is forcing you too. Just wait for GT5.
Coldgunner
hopefully its a simultanious euro release, if not its import time.
Mike
hopefully its a simultanious euro release, if not its import time. Game still has it for 28th march (?24.99) so it's either that date or unconfirmed still (unless that 17th april is for uk as well and game havent updated)
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2008 I have not been keeping up on this much, so what is exactly included in this version? Meaning how many tracks? Cars? Etc.? Just what exactly makes it a "prologue" I guess is my question (besides no crash damage which I do know that). I personally still cannot see how the Digital version of not just this game but any game, isn't a bit cheaper, even just like $3-$5 less. If I recall correctly EA does the same exact thing with there Downloader, and so does Valve (actually I think I got Half Life 2 box cheaper in stores the day of release). At least cut the costs of production and pass that savings on to the consumer (disks, manuals, cases, etc.), even if it is only a few bucks. Only seems fair to me. Yes i think i will wait.. Europe is already waiting, we don't even know when the damn game is coming anyway or how much it will cost.
SnowRanger13
Yes Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is basically a Demo of what Gran Turismo 5 will be. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue features 16-player online races, 37 cars, 5 tracks, and 7.1ch (LPCM) high definition sound. This is what the Japanese GT5P had. Some people are saying that the North America one will have 50-60 cars. If it did have more cars that would explain why it's talking so much longer to come out here. I mean the Japanese version was half in english anyways. While the full game plans to have between 500 and 650 cars while having 50 tracks (one being the Top Gear track, time to take on the Stig). A lot of people are saying they won't have time to make 500 cars so they may release the game with 300+ and then do some free downloadable content. All those asking why do you have to pay for a demo? Simple, because it has more value then a lot of other racing games out. I'd rather own it then games like Need for Speed: Pro Street, Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, or Sega Rally Revo. If you don't think it's worth it wait for the full game.

You think Sony made a good move to charge $39.99 for this version? Yes I do believe 40bucks is a little steep (which will probably be much more in europe) Yes GT5P is a demo of GT5 - but compared to other small-time racers(which go for 50-60bucks mind you) which include the same amount of vehicles/tracks then this is certainly a great game for the price.. I never said it wasn't a good game but you do have to question what is going on here. Whether they just simply haven't progressed where they want to be,so they are using the Prologue to compensate lost time and get some money back. Why are they so busy working on the Prologue version for US and UK when alot of people really couldn't care since its NOT the final game. Giving us gamers a taster of GT5 is nice an all and it may be a long wait for the final game to come out but who are they trying to kid with a price tag of $39.99? The full version looks far more interesting and i will wait for that version. Ok it may be much bigger than any demo ever created, but $39.99? It's not even close to worth that and alot of people on here know it.

Considering you have to shell out another 50-60USD when GT5 arrives - then yes, I believe 40USD is too much. If GT5 didnt exist, then GT5P would be a great game for its price.. It shouldve been 30USD tops in my opinion.. Edited January 30, 2008 by Huleboeren
