SnowRanger13
Don't get me wrong, I love GT but don't you see what they are doing? They are milking the same game twice to cash in. I never said it wasn't a good game but you do have to question what is going on here. Whether they just simply haven't progressed where they want to be,so they are using the Prologue to compensate lost time and get some money back. Why are they so busy working on the Prologue version for US and UK when alot of people really couldn't care since its NOT the final game.Giving us gamers a taster of GT5 is nice an all and it may be a long wait for the final game to come out but who are they trying to kid with a price tag of $39.99? The full version looks far more interesting and i will wait for that version. Ok it may be much bigger than any demo ever created, but $39.99? It's not even close to worth that and alot of people on here know it. They've done a Prologue for other GT games. It has sold well (over a million) but thats nothing near what the full games sell. I really do think it's worth $39.99 when you compare it to some of the junk out there. Need for Speed: ProStreet witch is currently selling for $59.99 only has 55 cars. The Japanese Prologue had 37 cars but the one being released here is probably going to have more. I'm not saying everyone should run out and get GT5P but if your big into racing and already have a PS3 its something you probably want to pick up. I just got really into racing games recently, anyone that has me on PSN or XBL will see that often when I'm on PSN I'm playing GT:HD or GT5P (well it just looks like a bunch a JP text). When I'm on 360 I'm mostly playing Forza 2 (getting PGR4 soon as price drops a bit :p). So for me GT5P was a must buy.
PiracyX
Considering you have to shell another 50-60USD when GT5 arrives - then yes, I believe 40USD is too much.If GT5 didnt exist, then GT5P would be a great game for its price.. It shouldve been 30USD tops in my opinion.. You believe it is too much or you know it is too much? This price is totally unacceptable considering it's a small game at that, $20 should of been the price. Hopefully people can see what Sony/Polyphony are doing here

Thats the maz they should charge for it. Personally they should give this game out for free for all the people waiting on this game. Many will not even see the final game in 2008 (Europe) You are right Polyphony knows what they are doing. They see it as a way to squeeze extra income from the franchise. The way it has been priced tells you alot about Sony/Polyphony's goal in this. They know it's impossible to release the full game in 2008 so they sell you what they have created so far and sell it like a full game with a cheap price, hence the impression people think it is actually a full game but it really isn't. sn00pie
No one is forcing you to buy the Prologue, if you want to wait 10 months for the final version then wait. Polyphony Digital is known for NEVER making there Gran Turismo release dates... I don't see what the whining about the price is, it's not like your forced into it. I'm going to buy the Prologue when it comes out because I don't want to wait that much time for my daily GT fix.

If you've been into GT since it kicked off on the PS1, you'll know exactly what Prologue is, and I'd say with the small PS3 install base, those who own a PS3 right now, are those who've owned other PS consoles. This is nothing new mate, it has been done for years. The package this year has more content & online play in comparison to any years before (where the game was just a license test), and it managed to break over the million mark in the past. I never understand the people who go crazy at prologue being released, it's a game for the hardcore GT crowd, not a game to go up against the real market - That is for GT5. It takes ages to make GT games, people who live and breathe GT get a bit of relief when prologue comes around. Look at half the **** that comes out on the Wii for full price, and compare that to Prologue - Prologue doesn't look as bad an investment anymore  (my point being there is far worse things to spend money on that get traded off as full games) We got GT HD for free, Japan got a prologue demo and I see no reason why we potentially won't get a prologue demo before release. Blues
I read all the people complaining about paying for what is essentially a demo but... There was a gt4 prologue a gt2000 ( which was essentially gt3 prologue) and even a demo you got from mazda when gt2 came out (so really you had to buy a car for that one). So uh... unless my math is wrong... 10 years later and NOW You complain about having to pay for a demo. Be happy we are even getting it, this being the 1st one to be released in the states. I completely agree with you Audio, Some of the **** that has been released on the Wii for full price is a joke. However if we start comparing other system games to the Prologue then we might aswell say that $39.99 is a good price really. GT has been amazing and i am very much looking forward to the full game when it does finally turn up and i am sure many others are aswell. All i am saying is, this Prologue version of GT5 has been created for the "hardcore GT5" in mind and Sony/Polyphony feels its acceptable to charge OTT for it, when for 15% content of the final game, it's completely unacceptable, but what people will do for GT :shifty: For the people that imported the game, what if you were the one waiting for the UK release? 1) We still have no idea when it will be out, around summer time maybe?? 2) We don't know how much it will cost, but you can bet it won't be cheaper that ?30 Cmon, it has 16-player online races, 37 cars, 5 tracks Thats more than most racers which are higher priced:// Sony/polyphony are big evil corporations just like MS - charging for LIVE This is how evil corporations work and make money:pp The name has Prologue in it - what does that tell people?:pp Anyways, if Rockstar released aGTA4> Prologue I would have bought instantly for prices as high as 100USD on the american market - Some people just cant resist the urge;)) I never said it wasn't ever going to be a good game, not once, just way over priced thats all. Forza 2 had 300 cars, and 12 Environments which make up 45 tracks. Not sure about the number of online players, I think it was only 8, so it has it beat there... But to say its more than most racers which are higher priced, well, that is just not the truth of the matter. So I also happen to believe it is overpriced, but then again I am not buying it so no real loss to me.

WelshBluebird
$39.99 for a glorfied demo? what the hell? It going to cost about ?34.99 here in UK in that case, what a rip off ($39.99 is ?27 converted but we pay more don't we) How did you get that $40 = ?27 fo a direct conversion? direct conversion $40 is ?20. Add VAT you get around ?23.50. Add a little more and you get around ?25-?30.
DirtyLarry Veteran Posted January 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2008 forza 2 the only racing game out? didnt think so! he said most, not all, big difference. Okay, and how many other racing sim games are there that I am not aware of?? I used Forza as it is about the only other recent sim that comes to mind. Care to enlighten me? DIRT, which I do not even feel is in the same league, has 46 cars. Project Gotham Racing 4, which is not a Sim, has 120 vehicles... So saying that this demo has more cars than most racers is just false. From what I am reading, it has less. I am not saying it is not a better game overall, in fact I know the GT series is pretty much the premiere Sims racing series, and I also suck at racing sims so I have no clue what is better as a result, I was just making a fair comparison about the amount of cars and providing information for people to make a decision of their own if it is indeed overpriced or not. I also did point out no one matched the online 16 players, so that is obviously without a doubt a plus it has going for it. Again, not saying anything about the game itself, just the amount of content, I personally just do not think it is as much as other similar games (but for a prologue it is indeed very, very packed, just not sure if it is $40 packed). Sorry if that hurts anyone's feelings, I truly am, it is not meant to AT ALL. I was just sharing information that I just found through Google about 20 seconds ago as I was genuinely curious about the amount of content. I do not even own Forza 2, rented it for like a week and returned it.
