Killzone 2 should meet target movie

Recommended Posts

With the latest Surfer Girl rumors preaching that Killzone 2 seems to be heading for mediocrity, if that, we’re sure gamers are starting to question the validity of that claim. A Killzone 2 developer from Guerilla Games has caused a stir on their forums by finally getting around to answering questions posed to him from members.

According to EON in regards to the look and presentation of the game in its current state compared to that of which we saw at E3 2005, he had this to say, “I think there are certain things in the 2005 target movie that are easy to do in a movie but rather harder to do in a game. In general I’d say that we exceeded it in certain areas and either met or came damn close to meeting the rest of it.”

Other concerns that gamers have had is with the fact that Guerilla has been given around $60 million dollars of funding to work with, yet hasn’t been able to produce much to the public in the span of the 3 years they’ve been working on this title. With Insomniac working with limited developers and a smaller budget, they’ve been known to display their titles in quick succession. Due Insomniac’s ability to do this, you’d wonder if the Sony family is as close knit as you’d think. EON touched on this subject as well, clarifying the cooperation to a certain point inside the family.

“Well, I can’t really spill the beans on this without talking about specifics, I’m afraid. Suffice it to say that there is a definite spirit of cooperation between studios within the Sony family. We help each other out to achieve our goals and to get the very best out of the PS3’s architecture.” He followed this up by discussing how their relations with SCEA and SCEE are doing, “I could give you a long spiel about Corporate strategy and our position within the Sony Family, but it’s easiest to say that we are lucky enough to work with both SCEE and SCEA closely. We have cordial relations with SCEJ too.”

EON also touched base a bit in regards to HOME and possible Killzone 2 implementation. He couldn’t go into specifics, of course, however, he did mention that the development team is very excited about the possibilities that this option could potentially bring.

He failed to touch on Surfer Girl’s comments directly and pretty much side-stepped it. So there is no way to confirm if there is truth to that rumor of mediocrity or not, however, we’ll try and keep you up to date on any further details that may surface.
