+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted January 30, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted January 30, 2008 (edited) The decision to charge more for Devil May Cry 4 on PlayStation 3 than on Xbox 360 is down to “retailer discretion”, says Capcom.Major UK retailers are charging gamers up to ?10 extra for the PS3 version of upcoming action title Devil May Cry 4, and Capcom says the matter is out of its hands. "We don't set the prices of our games, that's at the discretion of the retailer,” a Capcom spokesperson told VideoGamer.com. “In this specific instance, the process has resulted in a price difference, but the process itself is not something we completely control." DMC4 may not be the first multi-format game to be more expensive on the PS3, but it is understandable that PS3 owners are a little unhappy considering that both console versions of the title are essentially the same game. High street specialist retailer Game lists DMC4, which is out in Europe on February 8, with a ?39.99 PS3 price tag, while it’s only ?32.99 on Xbox 360. The price difference between the different versions of the game is ?10 on Amazon.co.uk. Source: http://next-gen.biz/index.php?option=com_c...88&Itemid=2 Quite ridiculous after Sony helped the DMC series turn into what it is today, let alone the RE series. Nice way to pay us back Cap:/m :/ I'm sure you can "have your say" on the pricing... Was this title ported or was it built up from scratch on both platforms? shakey
ps3 owners cant complain. When you buy a system from a company that says ," our gamers our loyal, and we believe that price is no issue when it comes to the entertainment we put out. They will gladly pay what is needed for it." i might be off on some of the words, but its really what they said. Also, bd disc cost more, so it should be expected. Corris Veteran Posted January 30, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 30, 2008 Retailers suck, in Game for instance, new games that are multi-platform are always around ?5 more for the PS3 version. I of course then go across the road to HMV or the like and get it for the normal price.:pp

But many games that come out for the Xbox 360 and PS3 have the same price and here in America DMC4 is listed for the same price for both systems on Amazon.com. Can Sony tell a game company what price to charge? Nice way to pay us back Capcom I'm sure you can "have your say" on the pricing... How sure are you? I know seen some retailers have special weekend sells for games that just came out before moving the price back to match other retailers in town, you think the game company had a part in that decision? CY:G
Yeah the engine is the same for both consoles and the PC, they built it in house and i believe the first game to use it was Dead Rising. The only excuse i would believe is if they said that Blu-ray media is more expensive than DVD-DL but Capcom has already said its the retailer's decision so thats not it. Those costs are starting to kick in as Sony is running out of steam with subsidization costs and similar at their factories and higher prices of media coupled with that notion that who spends that much money for PS3 can as well pay more for the games. I'm pretty sure this was to be expected no?
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted January 30, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted January 30, 2008 hmm, thats not good for Sony, especially if a customer owns both an xbox360 and a PS3. Dont say it's worth the extra money to have it on the PS3, because that's BS, it clearly says: both console versions of the title are essentially the same game. I'm pretty sure this was to be expected no? Are you kidding me? manufacturing costs of the PS3 just fell half - and they will be revealing a 45nm CELL processor early next month which will probably end up in the PS3 at some point.. If anything, Sony is getting oiled ready to turn up the steam :p And Capcom were the only ones to do this, what makes you think others will follow?

I'm pretty sure this was to be expected no? No, not really. Such things might of been said in the past, the arrogant attitude that Sony had, and Ken Kutaragi and his crazy ideas and sayings, especially about price, and that one about people getting two jobs or working harder to get one, but unless you missed the memo, hes not there any more, and while bits and bobs come out, they have very much changed their image that it was when they started, the console is cheaper to not only buy now, but for them to make, and I don't see the attitude they once had. They have said themselves they are not pricing the games between consoles more than the other, it is simply the shops that are doing it (its not just Capcom, I can walk into a GAME, as i mentioned earlier, and Burnout is also more expensive) so using lame excuses and pinning it on Sony is rather sad. Nicholas-c Veteran Posted January 31, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 31, 2008 well, i think 360 games should be the classic ?30 as they are same size and on same disk and PS2 games etc but i dont think ?10 or so more for just a blu-ray disk is worth it capcom = complete utter money grabbing idiots
