jokeripa
I've tried Linux a few times before, installed Ubuntu, but drifted back to Windows just because of application compatibility. So the other day I decided I was going to see if I could crack my home networks WEP key, just to see if I could, and the easiest way seemed to be downloading Backtrack, and so I did, I downloaded Backtrack 3 Beta, the USB version. I followed all the instructions about putting it on a flash drive and it wouldnt work. It kept coming up with the error 'Could not load kernel image: Linux' or something close to that. I made a few more attempts, but nothing worked, so I googled it and very little came up. Thinking it might be because it was a beta, I downloaded Backtrack 2, final release. Exactly the same problem. I'm pretty sure I'm missing something here :\ I then tried DSL linux for the hell of it to see if that would work, but that didnt even get to the error stage it just said 'Searching for boot records on <drive> OK' then just not do anything. Has anyone got any advice? P.S - Tried all 3 on two different flash drives.
markwolfe Veteran Posted January 31, 2008 Veteran Share Posted January 31, 2008 Not sure what procedure you used, and what your USB stick looks like. I have verified that this how-to for booting Knoppix worked for me.
