TruckWEB
I'm using Vista x64 at the moment, using Media Player, I can add my PS3 so that I can share my MP3/Videos/Photos. Is it possible to do the same thing under Linux? Can I share my media with my PS3 or Xbox360 ? What software do you use? -------------------------------- Another question : What distro would you recommend? - I prefer KDE - I'm not really into command line (love GUI) - Must be able to play all media (Microsoft WMV, Flash, QuickTime, DivX, Xvid, DVD, MP3, ...), out of the box IF possible. - I would love to have the same kind of Fonts. - Will use FireFox and OpenOffice. - Must support dual monitor. I'm just looking for something good to replace Vista. Edited February 3, 2008 by TruckWEB
+unabatedshagie Subscriber¹ Posted February 3, 2008 Subscriber¹ Share Posted February 3, 2008 Well if you like KDE then I would suggest either SUSE or Kubuntu. I don't really have a whole lot of experience with KDE (tried it in the beginning before sticking with gnome) so I can't really be more helpful than that. You could always try NEOWIN'S SHIFT linux, I do have the kubuntu variety of that installed in virtualbox to test out and it's not bad. As for streaming to the 360/PS3, I use a program called twonkymedia to stream from my ubuntu machine to my 360 (it's also supposed to work with the PS3 but I don't have one of them to try it with), there is only one problem in that it's not free although there is a 30 day trial to see if you think it's worth it. I'm not really 100% sure if there are any other native linux programs out there that you could use (I did look into running a few windows streaming programs via WINE but I didn't have any luck in getting them to work).
