Cheaper SATA Laptop/Notebook Upgrade

For those of you whom may be in the market to upgrade their laptops/notebooks to a larger SATA drive, take a look at the 200GB external Hitachi drives available at BestBuy. Now I needed an upgrade for my Lenovo T-61 and was trying to figure out the cheapest way to do so. Now I cracked open the drive casing by removing two small screws from the bottom of the chasis and voila the drive to my delight was a SATA drive. I took the 80GB drive that was in my Lenovo T61 and put it in the chasis, and installed the 200GB in my T61. Now mind you at the time I purchased this the internal version was $159.00 and the external was $132.00.

Now mind you doing this will void the warranty but it saved me some cash. Both drives work flawlessly. Just thought I would share this tidbit.

hm.. is it 7200rpm tho or 5400rpm? I rather 5400RPM for the heat and power draw :) I have a T60 and wasn't really needing the upgrade as i have a 100GB now with 500GB externally but hmm for that cheap might as well :)

even cheaper now... it's 119.99 :) It's a 5400RPM drive also which is the same price for the other at $150.00.

hm.. is it 7200rpm tho or 5400rpm? I rather 5400RPM for the heat and power draw :) I have a T60 and wasn't really needing the upgrade as i have a 100GB now with 500GB externally but hmm for that cheap might as well :)

It's a 5400 with 8MB cache
