+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 5, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted February 5, 2008 In an interview with Screen Play the Managing Director of Sony Electronic Entertainment Australia, Michael Ephraim, was asked to comment on the ridiculous delays between releases on the PAL/Australian PSN versus the US/Japanese PSN. Ephraim confirmed that the issue was the fact that all content needs to be localized for all the European languages (no change there, we've known that for months). "We're in an online space, it's a global community," he says. When pressed that "digital distribution is supposed to break down geographic barriers," Ephraim responds that "there are discussions and we have identified that. We have been very vocal about it and I think you will see an improvement over the next six months on this issue." Should we take this to mean that a global online store is coming within the next half a year? Not impossible, but let's be realistic - we'll probably see European content lag become much shorter within that time frame (or, hopefully, nonexistent) rather than an entire global PSN Store. Doesn't mean we can't cross our fingers for one, right? Source: http://www.ps3fanboy.com/2008/02/05/soluti...ext-six-months/ I understand a small delay between releases in Japan/USA/Europe by a week or a few... But examples of titles like Everyday Shooter still not in EU stores is ridiculous. The biggest barriers are Japan - USA (Japanese to English), and they way I see it USA - Europe should be near instantaneous for an English release, maybe a little longer for all the other countries in Europe. I would welcome a Global store, one which has every piece of content but warns you of lanugage availability, or at least Global in the sense that in America/Europe where english is a main language, everything in the Global store is at least in English. (this would mean that once something hits America in english, everyone in Europe has the chance to download it in English, with other languages pending)
houlty
yeah. just release it worldwide and advise that language packs in x, y and z languages will be released in time... i dont understand this. the above makes perfect sense to me. the way they do it now means us english speaking people are suffering. *sigh* when will people realise... Coldgunner
I just wish they would release the US version here in the UK, fair enough the spellings are incorrect:p but it beats the delays. not forgetting most of europe has english as a second language, they might as well bring out the english only titles and update them as and when.
