[Rumour] God of War: Chains of Olympus heading to PS2?

Rumor: PSP God of War being ported to PS2

Although EGM's Quarterman rumor column in the March issue whispers sweet nothings about Dead Rising 2 and a PS2 Wiimote, the most credible rumor is that God of War: Chains of Olympus may be heading to PS2. EGM's resident man of mystery writes that Chains of Olympus may head to the PS2 later down the line, sometime after its release on PSP. It's worth wondering how much of this is rumor reporting, as opposed to "common expectation" at this point.

Many high-profile PSP games have made the jump to PS2 in recent years, and GoW: Chains of Olympus could certainly fit that category. Just recently, Silent Hill Origins and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters made the leap from portable to big screen. We'll be sure to welcome Kratos from a safe distance if he ever decides to make the jump.

If it does come to the PS2, chances are, I'd buy it for the PS2 instead. I love my PSP and all, but, I'd much rather play it using the more superior control scheme. Plus, it could be amazing if the PS2 even after all these years has yet another game of the year contender. We all thought God of War 2 was the PS2s last hurrah, but maybe not?

I highly doubt it'll be any kind of GOTY, but it will be a good reason to dust off the PS2 (or hope it's PS3-compatible, if ye have teh 60GB).

Again, I love the fact that they port these games, since I don't feel like getting a PSP just yet, and I don't have to miss out. I think the only high-profile PSP game that isn't being ported is MGS:Portable Ops.

who started this rumor Microsoft or Nintendo?

whoever it was is just trying to damage future sales of the PSP biggest title of this year (or perhaps all title)...

PS2 has had two God of War titles - I doubt this version will be heading back to PS2...

however, the Chains of Olympus story (or its concepts) could find their way into God of War for PS3...that is far more likely...

How will it damage sales? :|

And anyway the developers wouldn't mind seeing the money pour in from the PS2 owners who would lap this up who don't own a PSP.

PSP has sold what? 25million?

PS2 - 120 million?

Other PSP titles are making their way to the PS2 as well you know.

It will still hit the PSP first (Y)

owners of a PS2 (or PS3 with backcomp) would be prepared to wait, don't you think? (whether or not they have a PSP) that would hurt sales very badly indeed (especially if it was never released)...and if the port entered the market at budget pricing, like GTA LCS/VCS, that would hurt revenue too...therefore developers would cry...

as for the other games you mentioned, are there as "hot" in terms of gamer's interest...I think not...

It'll do the same thing as GTA IMO.

Of course they aren't going to announce a PS2 port before the release - THAT would damage sales.

But im 95% sure it will appear on the PS2 at somepoint.
