neoxphuse
I would like to see if I can hook up my ps3 via hdmi to my monitor which has a hdcp compliant dvi connection. It's a samsung 216bw, 21.6". 1) Would this be possible? 2) What would I need? 3) Where can I get what I need and the price?
Andrew Lyle Global Moderator Posted February 7, 2008 Global Moderator Share Posted February 7, 2008 You can get a simple HDMI to DVI converter, and vice versa. You just need to check your local bestbuy, circuit city, or whatever's web site. Incase that fails, check eBay. Many many sites carry these converters, and they are very cheap (less then $15)
EnzoFX
Definitely, of course. Hdmi-DVI adapter. Get it From Monoprice.
Fear-51
How is the quality? Does it lose the HDMI quality by converting it?
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 7, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted February 7, 2008 How is the quality? Does it lose the HDMI quality by converting it? Exactly the same! First, to clear away one element that can be confusing: DVI and HDMI are exactly the same as one another, image-quality-wise. The principal differences are that HDMI carries audio as well as video, and uses a different type of connector, but both use the same encoding scheme, and that's why a DVI source can be connected to an HDMI monitor, or vice versa, with a DVI/HDMI cable, with no intervening converter box.
