UK PS3 versions

Recommended Posts

Hi All.

I want to get a PS3 but I also want the backwards compatibillity with PS2. I really sont want to add another box uder my TV so I would like to replace the PS2 with the PS3 without loosing the abillity to play classic PS2 games. The 60Gb version seems to be impossible to purchase at a reasonable price in the UK. Is there any likelyhood of Sony releasing another version on the near future that has BC?

doubt it very much mate, sony have given up on BC by the looks of it, i was quite lucky to get one, Only the news of sony discontinuing the 60GB version prompted me to get one as i knew the 40GB would not have BC, at the moment i have more PS2 games than PS3 (which are rediculously priced high) so for me it was a good purchase.

Nope. And really, in terms of consumer alienation and confusion...they shouldn't bring it back with another, slightly different model, because then there will just be way too many different models floating around.

I reckon they're sensible enough not to release yet another SKU.

If they bring back BC, it should be solely by software emulation so anyone can just download compatibility.

I went to buy a PS3 when the 40GB came about. I too splashed out an extra ?50 for the 60 GB version as I really wanted BC. The best bet is EBay it seems.

why not try pick up a slim ps2 that can be easily hidden away?

that'll mean 100% compatibility, and you'd have spent about the same as what you would for a 60gb ps3.

Not really an option form me with My HTPC, 360, amp Cd player and a few other bits theres no room for any ps2 slim (which i already have) and a PS3.
