Alfista
You can replace the ps3 HDD with any 2.5 inch SATA drive. I put a 160gb one in mine.If you want to see how much space DMC4 is taking up you can check. There is a section for stored game data that will tell you each game and how much is installed. well that done of course my PS3 would not have guarantee any more right? Also can i do this process? is it easy? and one last thing. When i put a 2.5 inch sata drive, how do i configure the pS3? since the disk is empty how do i install the firmware? Nightz
the whole hard drive process is pretty easy. sony even provides instructions in the manual for how to do it. basically, all you do is open the drive bay, slide the harness out, unscrew the hard drive and take it out, put your new one in, screw it back into the harness, stick it back into the ps3 and close it up. when you turn the ps3 on, it will detect the new hard drive and format it automatically. all your operating system settings will be the same. the only things you would have to transfer are the files (audio, video, saves) that were on your hard drive. Yup and if you're only backing up save files, or a couple of downloads, just pop in a USB memory stick instead and backup to that. That's what I did, instead of lugging down my portable hard drive. My USB memory stick is a 4GB.

I wonder if there is a 400-500 gb 2.5 SATA harddisk on the market... or even a terabyted ;) I will be doing this procedure next month. I am preparing for a whole technological products make over.. Since Vista SP1 is coming out mid march. First i will format my pc make a clean copy of vista and SP1 with only crysis, titan quest, bioshock, WIC, Football manager 2008 and London Hellgate installed... and than i will do the same procedure to my PS3 will get the best harddisk out there and install Unreal Tournament on the harddisk and play it even faster... One other quick question. Lets say that i did this procedure. few months later my PS3 got broken. Since i can not have it repaied for free because i changed the harddisk, than if i insert the original harddisk and send the PS3 like that to the Sony dealer, would they notice? :)

Alfista
ok guys 2 more questions 1-) In Warhawk or Burnout... Do you guys use the motion sensor in the controller? i tried it but it seems very hard.. If getting used to it, is it better than using the Left stick? In Warhawk on the plane mode its good but in Burnout its very hard to control the car with motion sensor... Did anyone get used to it? 2-) looking for a nice steering wheel for my console... I play Need for speed pro racer and will buy GT5... can you recommend me one that is compatible with both these games?
PL_ Veteran Posted February 23, 2008 Veteran Share Posted February 23, 2008 hmmm.. is the 2.5 inch drives new or old technology??? i mean will they ever make a bigger one? 350 is also good but while at it i would love one more than 500gb. 2.5" drives aren't going anywhere anytime soon. Pretty much all laptops these days use them :) Oh, as for this: 1-) I live in turkey and when signing up a PS3 account from Turkey I can not access the PS store because none available in Turkey. So I registered through UK and i can access ps3 store. If anyone can sign up an account from any country than what is the purpose of not having a global PS store? I am also thinking of signing up from USA with another username. Different countries have different restrictions on what can and can't be sold, and different game rating systems. Germany, for example, is very strict with game ratings and banned Gears of War from being sold. It's important for Sony to respect these boundaries and make sure the content they want to sell on that PS Store is allowed and has been given the correct ratings. Then you've also got paid content, where you have loads of different currencies and the rules as to what can and can't be put on there change. If there was a global store, and say for example China didn't want a certain download to be available, that would mean they would have to take it off the global store. You couldn't block it from China only because the PS3 can't detect what country you're in. You could get it to ask you what country you're from, but then it's pretty much the same as before. In short, it's too complicated ;)
