What Happened To Neowin

I think the problem with the gamers and software section will always be lack of prominence on the main page. People are lazy and even tho there are buttons to view the news, many don't bother. As a result the topic's don't get a massive amount of comments or views which in turn demoralises the news posters from posting.

I'd have to agree with you there DrCheese. It wasn't that I felt that the Neowin administration was not caring about gaming news (and software news of course) because they also enjoy those news bits as much as anyone I'm sure. I just always felt that since gaming news wasn't on the front page itself, save for the odd Xbox 360 launch story, or PS3 story etc, that gaming news wasn't "as important" as tech news. Now, since Neowin is a tech news site with a great community, I suppose that is sorta accurate to a point. But considering for months on end I was the only one who posted gaming news sometimes, and with the real life issues I had, things were just really bad sometimes. Now I'll be the first to admit, sometimes I just didn't feel like posting news once in awhile, after all there would be stretches where I didn't post for a week or two or more at a time - but this was also because of other reasons which I've mentioned many times in the past.

Needless to say, this is a volunteer position remember. We weren't paid for our time (not that that ever bothered me much though, I just enjoyed doing the job) and I suppose some people would rather not post news, or get a job with another site that pays something in the end. Personal issues, time, unexpected events (like no internet at all for over 2 months perhaps?) all lead to the unfortunate end of my Neowin tenure.

Hopefully down the road Shane and the other Neowin decision makers will welcome me back on the team, but if not, I don't hold any grudges. In the end they have to do what is right for the site after all. I just wish, and again this is just for ME personally here, no one else - that my situation was handled a bit differently at the end.

And yes, I still want to firebomb Comcast on occasion. Is that horrible? :|

Why yes it is. I don't feel like going out in flames (in the literal sense). ;)
