TruBD
ok in windows environments, using vnc and connecting to another machine shows you the current desktop on their machine meaning if you left a window open on it, when you vnc into it you will see that window as well now i set up vnc on RHEL5, works fine, except that when i vnc into it, it starts a new session and not the current one that is active on the machine. is there a way to get vnc to automatically use the active session? timmmay
Try using vncviewer to connect to the right display. eg put computername:0 in the connection box. Also check the file /etc/sysconfig/vncservers and look for the line with VNCSERVERS="#:username". The # will be the display number the server is configured to run on. TruBD
ive tried that, i use vncviewer to connect, it starts a new session, then in the terminal i type in: vncviewer localhost.localdomain:0 which is the active session, when i do, it loads a viewer with A LOT of taskbars that run down the screen and looks all messed up. i am also confused in another part. when the vnc service starts it says the root users session is localhost.localdomain:1, but when i go to System > Preferences > Remote Desktop, it tells me that to view the active session using vncviewer it is localdomain:0 any clue? in any case, both do the same thing. timmmay
Check my edited post above. For a more step by step guide/explination, visit http://www.g-loaded.eu/2005/11/10/configur...rver-in-fedora/ You may want to try the :0 method for your initial connection.
