My posts mysteriously disappear....

Recommended Posts

Ok, within the last few weeks, I noticed that at least 3 or 4 of my posts just "disappear." This is fine and all but could the admins that remove them at least tell me? Maybe it is just an error I really don't know though.

Just a simple gripe, maybe this has happened to other people too?

Sometimes posts that reply to an offending post are removed. They are no longer needed and are out-of-place.

It happens. If you don't get a message from staff saying that you are receiving a warning, then you are fine. :)

Hmmm, that might be what it is then, guess it is all ok. I was just getting a little superstitious.... "The mystery of the post removing Neowin ghost" :p

When a thread is cleaned then all posts that relate to the problem are often taken out as well. That tends to end the inappropriate discussion.

Usually, a note is left in the thread to indicate that it has been cleaned.

For example: [Thread Cleaned]

So.. mystery solved I guess, I didn't know post would be 'just removed without further notice', but hey, learned something new again :)

IPB does not do this automatically and it would be just too much work for us to do manually. Sometimes, when I clean a thread that has gone off on a very bad off-topic direction, I will end up removing more posts than I keep.
