+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 16, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) What does the Warhawk v1.3 free update bring? Along with two new troop weapons, there?s an easier way to set up matches with your friends, trash talk with your enemy, and oh, just a little thing called Home integration? Yes, you heard me right. Home integration will be coming with v1.3 and the game?s creator, Dylan Jobe, tells us how this will exactly work. With the release of v1.3 patch, players will be able to form groups, meet in their Home apartments, discuss tactics, and then launch a game of Warhawk?all together! This is the most detailed information we?ve had about game integrations with Home, and the ability to launch into a game with your friends straight from your apartment is just the type of integration we want. This is how it will work. When you?re in your Home apartment, all you need to do is get out your virtual PSP, select ?Create Game? and pick Warhawk. From there, you can start your own player server, pick a game rotation, set server options and then launch Warhawk with all of your friends. You can also choose to not make your game viewable to the other Warhawk players around the world, or you can make it a ?public? game to allow other Warhawker?s to join. Games launched from HOME show up in the global games list in an attractive gold color. Now this isn?t the end of Home integration for Warhawk, and Dylan Jobe sounds a tad excited about what they have planned. Now this is just the beginning of what we?re gonna to be doing with HOME and there?s some really neat stuff on the horizon. I?d love to show you more of the cool HOME stuff that we?re working on but I suspect I?d get a PR-shank to the spine?or possibly a lung. So I gotta say that I?m actually super relieved that we?re putting in *REAL* legit value for players and *NOT* making HOME a portal for SONY to jam branding and marketing schwag down player?s throats! As a gamer, I?m excited *and* relieved to see the direction HOME is taking. Since the patch has been in testing for a while now, it does not appear to be a very long way off. Dylan even says they are thinking of implementing other server options, which they may not ship because they need ?more play testing?. This must put a release for patch v1.3 sooner rather than later, even though now official release date has been given. What can be presumed is that the patch will be released after the release of Home, and so Home may be closer than we think. We know there will be big Home announcements at GDC?08, but what could be a bigger announcement than ?it will be available to PS3 owners in March?? Furthermore, another Warhawk downloadable pack called ?Broken Mirror? is rumoured to release on March 20th, so perhaps this date can be put in your diaries for Home?s release also? We?ll keep you posted. To find out about all of the features in this Warhawk patch, including two new weapons, new VOIP options and paint jobs, please visit the Playstation Blog. #3 HOME Game Launching: Yeah Baby?So our HOME integration is coming along nicely and this update includes a great, and much needed feature for Warhawk. With the release of v1.3 patch, players will be able to form groups, meet in their apartments, discuss tactics, and then launch a game of Warhawk?all together! When you?re in your apartment, all you do is whip-out your virtual PSP, select ?create game? and pick Warhawk. From there, you get to start your own player server, pick a game rotation, set server options and then?BAM !! Launch Warhawk with all of your friends!! You can also pick to not make your game viewable to the other Warhawk players around the world, or you can make it a ?public? game that puts all of your friends into the server together, and leaves open slots for other global Warhawk players join. Games launched from HOME show up in the global games list in an attactive gold color. Source: http://www.ripten.com/2008/02/15/home-clos...k-patch-teases/ Have your say... +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 18, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 18, 2008 More fuel for the fire, although it is a huge rumour in the "my source told me this" category. It is posted by a respected community member though, not a new signup or 100 post newbie ;) It also sounds like it could be real... We all know about the Warhawk v1.3 patch info, and its Home integration. We all know about the PSN page on here (us.playstation.com) that was up, then removed, that had info on Home. We all know that GDC is 2 days away. Here is something most of us dont know, and why would we? We dont develop PS3 games. I wont disclose where this info came from, nor will I discuss where the info came from any further after this post. I will instead let you all speculate. The following is from a Private Message with someone to remain nameless. I am not gonna name names and throw this person under the bus. "Do you know what PSedge tools are? Basically, it's a development environment filled with code libraries that allow developers to have an easier time integrating their game code to work with the PS3. Anyways, very exciting stuff happened on Monday (The one that just past). The PSedge dev kits, recieved an update. So whatever, we take a look, and the major addition, was that the TRC's were updated, and the new HOME libraries were brought in. What does this mean? A TRC is a checklist of things a game must have for Sony to approve, in order for them to give the "Go-Ahead" on releasing the game on their console. This checklist has things like: Can't crash, Load times under 10 seconds, and things like that. Two new ones were added: A game must be able to integrate into Home, a game must support "Accomplishments". Right there, two important things, the PS3 system for achievements is called "Accomplishments", and Home is coming out VERY VERY VERY Soon. Then, we got a changelog, and in-game XMB is almost worked out. Every game that's coming out now, supports in-game XMB, every game that already came out, has to get patched. (Naturally, only first party games will get a patch, I doubt Ubisoft is going to patch Assassin's Creed). So yeah, it boils down to, Sony got everything figured out. I don't know what's the hold up, but from a developers perspective, HOME is set up and completed, and In-Game XMB is on the verge of being completed and released." Source: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstatio...ding&page=1 Even if it isn't fully right, I sure hope the parts about a game "must be integrated to Home" and that it must "support Accomplishments" to be real. That would mean everything would be up to standards, like every game for Live has to be. Didn't DMC4 have some "accomplishment" on the PS3? - Meaning it was called that, and not an achievement. Sam
Hmm, interesting. Will the "achievements" in Uncharted become "networked" then?

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 18, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 18, 2008 Closed beta almost over? So I logged into us.playstation.com and right under my username there used to be two icons: one for GAP and one for Beta. I logged in to see if there was any new Home news and the Beta button is gone with only the GAP button remaining - but both buttons were there as recently as last night. With GDC starting, is this an indication that Home could be launching in the very near future? Cause they dnt want hundreds of kids spamming the forums with "OMG Home Broke my Ps3" Home is far frm stable for public beta! Public beta will be to test how many the server can handle....atm its testing out the software etc...
