Lair Analog Patch Confirmed?

Recommended Posts

Often rumored and much desired, Doug Allen from the IGN Blogs has reportedly gotten his hands on the analog controls for Factor 5's much-maligned PlayStation 3 game Lair, and claims they are the bomb - quite possibly the bomb diggity.

I played it and Holy ****; Greg needs to give them a new score. It was kind of clear that Factor 5 put in the extra effort a little begrudgingly, but the results were amazing. This might push me over the edge into the "must buy PS3" territory. I also mentioned Greg Miller's name, and the Factor 5 guys burned a hole through my skull with their looks of hatred. I think they'll be alright once the patch is out for a while though.

Sounds good to me, though since this is just a guy in a blog post we're going to have to chalk this up as a rumor right now. Why no official confirmation yet? With all the new stuff to look at, who is going to drop by the Lair kiosk?

DOH!

Can anyone say should of been in retail? :p

If this does improve things 10x though, maybe with the cheap prices you can no doubt get Lair at, it would make it worthwhile picking up.

controls weren't the only problem with the game. ;)

the game was plagued with camera and framerate issues as well. plus in my opinion, the story wasn't great. unless those were fixed as well, i don't think it'll ever be worth buying. i would say however, that with this patch, it'll at least be worth a rental.

Pass this on to whomever you like: I just confirmed this 100%. Played it, plays smooth, and the controls are highly responsive. Just after I read this thread, I was in the GDC Career Expo, and Factor 5 had a booth there, and they were showing it off. I asked the guy directly, he seemed suprised that the rumor was already out on the internet. The patch is at Sony right now for QA before release, so I'd expect it very soon.

The dash has been moved to the D-pad. The reticule is on the right stick, movement on the left. But in-air combat minigames are still using the Sixaxis.

Also worth noting that the patch will also add rumble, and upgrade the PSP connectivity. The guy I talked to said that it was originally in there by accident, but once it was found, they decided to "go back in and do it right."

Sounds cool, I was thinking of picking this game up before I heard how horrible the controls were. Maybe I will try it out now.

Same here, I was looking forward to buying the game, but I am put off by the controls, when this comes out I will happily pick the game out.

One thing I would is if Factor 5 went and made a Star Wars game like they did with Rogue Squadron, to play the Battle of Endor with the power behind these consoles would be truly epic. :D
