Sorry UK: No Gran Turismo 5 Until 2009

Recommended Posts

You are right that is true, i did miss that one out. This has always been the case on the playstation platform where we have to wait serveral months for the same game to hit UK and usually pay more for it.

This will be something i will consider when i do get one, but why should be have to import the games, when they should be sitting on UK shelves the same time has US since there will be no difference to the game.

I think Sony actually love shafting the UK for the fun of it.

Yeah it's only Sony who do that.

Try every game platform.

Do we in the UK have No More Heroes yet? Do we get Brawl at the same time as America?

Did we get Lost Odyssey on the 4th of february?

Only certain games get worldwide releases. MGS4 is one of them...

Sony always releases games in Europe fully translated into many languages, most of their first party studios even having voice acting in numerous languages on release in Europe.

At least when stuck in these positions we can import. The Wii is region locked on every title, and only certain 360 titles are region free.

I've always wanted to get a Grant Turismo game, I generally suck at racing games, so I think I will pick this up when it finally comes out, I didn't expect it this year, if Prologue wasn't coming out, I would, but since it has, I have already already added a year onto that for GT5.

PGR5 and Forza 3 will be out before this game, and since PGR got the fun and Forza got the realism there's allready very little reason to hold out for GT5.

Unless your a GT fan and/or don't have an Xbox360 for the two games you just mentioned?

unfortunately the UK (purveyor of correct spellings tongue.gif ) is bundled with the europe group over the english speaking group. Australia gets it the worst tho.

It can be so annoying being stuck on a titchy island stuck next to the main continent (Europe) with all their crazy languages. :p

Im just amazed polyphony digital (or what ever they are called) didnt have this ready for launch.

True, it wouldnt have looked so amazing, but the thing is, GT has always been a killer app on the PS consoles, and been there pretty much at launch.

If a version had been released on the psp, i guarentee you that a heck of a lotmore consoles would have been sold. I know i would still have mine.

And if a FULL GT game was with the ps3 on launch, maybe it would have shifted more consoles. Especially over here in europe where the launch wasnt all that great (After the bad reviews from japan and usa).

Yeah I seem to recall GT3 being out shortly after the PS2 came out? Am I right?

It was one of the first games I got for my PS2 anyway I think.

I think the same applies to Square Enix and Naughty Dog.

Shame like, i've got the japanese version of prologue, and i did hate it, but im slowly enjoying it more and more.

Would just like to have the full version.

So those who are playing prologue...how is it? Better than Forza?

I dont think it is (It's growing on me though), but then again, ive always prefered forza. Purley because when Poliphony Digital say GT is a Sim game, they really mean it. While forza is still Very arcady.

My friend disagrees with you - hes very pro-forza when it comes to realism.. :D

What would you say made GT more realistic than the other?

Don't get me wrong, it is realistic, but it's still slightly arcady.

The sensation of speed, i feel, is a little over exagerated, in alot of Rear-Wheel Drive cars i can hit the hand brake at 70mph and slide around a corner ect.

I just think GT is just about as realistic as it gets. Shame that makes it a bit tedious.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is great I will say that, is it better then Forza 2? no not right now. Does it have the potential to be better then Forza 2? thats a for sure, and I'm almost certain the full game will.

The graphics definitely do look better then Forza 2, thats a no brainer.

With 16 player online you can play with more people then Forza 2 at a time.

For cars you have ABS, Traction Control, Stability Management, Tires, Transmission, and Simulation Type (Standard and Professional). There are no other options for the cars. Of course this is just currently but Forza 2 definitely beats out with it's huge number of car tweaks. I have no idea what will be added here.

No damage in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue so Forza 2 beats that. Slamming into a wall and just getting 5 seconds of limited throttle does not feel very realistic. Thankfully damage is going to be a part of Gran Turismo 5.

The JP version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has 37 cars, the EU and NA versions will have 60 cars. Of course Forza 2 has over 300 but Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is just a preview of the game. For the full game they hope to release with at least 500 cars.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has 5 tracks (2 configurations each). In Forza 2 there are 14 tracks and 47 configurations total. Gran Turismo 5 is planned to have 50 tracks, not sure if that 50 is suppose to be tracks or configurations.

So as you can see there are a few things Gran Turismo 5 Prologue already beats Forza 2, and most of the rest it plans to beat in the full version of the game Gran Turismo 5.

Secret weapon: Gran Turismo 5 is going to have the track from my favorite TV show of all time. Thats right the Top Gear Test Track will be a part of Gran Turismo 5.

Pretty much, the EU version apparently also has a behinds the scenes feature on the disk as well (much like GT4 Prologue). However, if your not interested in the small behind the scenes feature, you may be able to just can keep your JP version, as I've heard Polyphony might be releasing the extra cars for the EU version as downloadable cars for the JP version, so keep an eye out for that.
