dtrmp4
I've looked on their website and many other driver download sites but I can't find anything. I tried to update it automatically with the built in driver update thing but it didn't find anything online. Also need drivers for the webcam and an unknown device, couldn't find drivers for them either. I'm running Vista Premium.

I'm running Vista Premium. according to HP it comes with Genuine Windows Vista? Home Premium...so i think you should take that issue up with HP Support...they should have provided you with 'working' drivers for there hardware. not sure you gave up the full name of your model..but the dv9700 CTO has drivers for webcam and everything else. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...841〈=en
dtrmp4
It came with the drivers, but I was stupid and reinstalled Vista to get rid of all of HP's bull**** they put on the computer without making some sort of CD with the drivers first. And I'm not sure if it's a CTO, it doesn't mention anything about CTO in dxdiag or My Computer.
Tews
Hmmm ... guess it wasn't all BS after all! :blushing: That being said, you can goto dirveragent.com and scan for your missing drivers and download them from there. PM me if you need "help"
funnyperson1
What is the model number as listed on the sticker (bottom of notebook). The drivers for the CTO should work, I think CTO is for the uncustomized version of your laptop which should have the same webcam/fp reader. abecedarian paradoxious
Which DV9700 is it? There are 176 different ones. Don't believe me? http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_la...;h_query=dv9700
dtrmp4
Downloaded the AuthenTec fingerprint driver, and it installed fine and removed the driver from the list in the Device Manager, but the fingerprint reader still doesn't work. And the bottom of my laptop just says HP Pavilion 9700, so I assume it's just the first one on that list, nothing special.
dtrmp4
Bump, still need the fingerprint reader drivers.
Insanor
Do you have the AuthenTec driver AND the program needed to use the reader? Without the program I can't do anything with my fingerprint reader on my Pavilion

There should be a sticker or decal somewhere on the computer that says model: or something like that. Maybe it's like my compaq laptop that doesn't have anything on the bottom specifying 2105us, but there's a decal that gives a model number that I put in the HP site which gives me a page that says it's a 2105us. PGHammer
There should be a sticker or decal somewhere on the computer that says model: or something like that. I have the same notebook - in fact, it has the Windows 10 Technical Preview on it. Unlike previous versions of Windows, it detected the fingerprint scanner, and automatically installed the drivers for it. (According to the service tag on the bottom of the notebook, it's the model dv9817cl. (HP acquired Compaq during the Windows 9x period, and there was even a period where some Compaq hardware was re-badged as HP hardware - the iPAQ line was one such, along with the ProLiant line of desktops, workstations, and servers; this is why I direct anyone with Compaq hardware to HP's support pages - in most cases, except for the branding, the drivers are still available unless the hardware itself dates back to 9x.) The SupportPaq (both HP and Compaq use this term for separately-packaged driver and other updates) for the Authentec reader is sp37812.exe and can be found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-56074-1&lc=en&cc=fr&os=2093&product=3636841. While this SupportPaq specifically refers to Vista, it equally applies to all versions of Windows later than Vista with the sole exception of the Windows 10 Technical Preview.
