cashman Veteran Posted February 26, 2008 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2008 Yeah, what exactly is your job where you have to tell people what console to buy every day? I'm not too sure how pleased your manager would be with your sales technique. I've always been bought up in business to sell big, and sell what you can make the most money out of. I'd let the wii do all of it's own selling and push the PS3 as a perfect home entertainment system. I've never needed to physically touch my PS3 since I set it up, I do everything by the controller. Eject discs, turn it on, browse the web and play my games, it has crashed on me a few times though, nothing major, and I'd take it's reliability any day over a 360. The XMB is a joy to use, and simple to navigate... maybe it says something about you? I dunno, maybe I'm just a boring old romantic that enjoys the nicer things in life. Rookas
Personally I prefer my 360 over my PS3 for now, but I know the PS3 will have its day soon. I think that review was pretty biased against sony for whatever reason, yet another reason that I don't ask for help when I go to a game shop. It's been my experience that I know a lot more about games than 90% of the clerks at any store.
Windam
I own the 360 and the Wii and it feels like I don't enjoy games like I use to. It's either me or the console
V9s
all right...so you got a glitchy console...and you're ranting about how that made your experience ****ty....hmm....there's a flaw in that... i could do the same by reviewing a 360 and start ranting about how friggin loud it is and how it gets stuck while playing halo 3... Cloud Constructors
Give the PS3 time, its still immature till later this year when MGS4 is out is when things will start getting better for the console
Nicholas-c Veteran Posted February 26, 2008 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2008 It does look gorgeous, no doubt about it, but getting to where I want to be in the 360 dashboard seems much more simple and faster than in the PS3. erm... what ? xmb is 10x faster than 360's dashboard and has less sub menus, rendering it more useful
]SK[
You sounds like one of the older generation of computer users I come across at work. Unlike older consoles you don't just stick in the game and turn the system on anymore. The PS3 is designed to be alot more than just a games console. I too have had the console lock up on me maybe three times but I sort of expect it. I think your post has really been a 360 v's PS3 comparison rather than a PS3 experience. Septimus
Wow, good to see you are unbiased. Updates take 10 mins at most if your connection doesn't suck. I have the Elite (had a launch premium that died 4 times before part-ex'ing it), PS3 and Wii... the PS3 and 360 get equal playtime (currently more to PS3 thanks to UT3) and the Wii I have given to my friend to use as it's utter balls. PS3 will overtake 360, just a matter of when not if.

Frankly, I miss those days. I think the biggest problem I have with the current crop of consoles is the emphasis on connectivity and updates. Sorry, (Sony | MSFT | Ninty), but my Genesis never needed to update. My Playstation never needed to update. Nor did my N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast, or PS2. Call me a curmudgeon but I liked consoles being all-in-one, static magic boxes that played the games you put in, no questions asked. What would've happened if the OP had refused the PS3 update? Would the game have played? What if it was an Xbox360? A Wii? The PSP I know requires certain updates to play certain games. Gameboy never did. Nor do GBA or DS. I know, I know, swimming against the current, but if you want my $0.02, the current sucks.

Im guessin he works in a GAME store or something similar! i dnt really agree with his whole topic just some small things like the DMC4 install and the firmware updating and how long it takes yeah i agree....but sayin things like u hated the Ps1....ps2....psst move along....cudnt really take u seriously after that! Sounds to me some1 has always hated Sony......and always will lol!

Im looking ford to the home thing coming out for it, but for now, its all good.

I borrowed it to see how it was. I am not expecting people to agree or disagree with me, just sharing an opinion. I want a games console for gaming and thats all, maybe as a DIVX player as well. Other than that its lost on me. Thats the main reason the 360 wons for me, its more of a pure games machine. He never came back... 1 post wonder, just enough to start a flame and bye bye gone. Umm.....I have had several posts in this topic. Anyhoo, thanks all for the opinions and all that. I can se the benefits of both but PS3 seems a little crappy to me. Frankly, I miss those days. I dont mind fancy gizmos and media players and all that, but it would be nice if neither console had all the hassle attached. But since I need to have one or the other I choose 360 because its far less hassle than a PS3? And exactly how long do I need to play the PS3 before I decide I dont like it. DirtyLarry Veteran Posted February 26, 2008 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2008 Like my mum always says;"You dont get a 2nd chance at a 1st impression" Your mum is a smart women, as those are words to live by. So much so, that you cannot be surprised at all by the reactions to this topic. Simply put, especially considering some of your initial statements, granted it was your opinion, your first impression in this topic was not that positive of one. So indeed, although it is not relevant wether you have any or not as your opinion is your opinion, no second chances here either. ;)

But you're not a fanboy?Threads like this are completely pointless. NO, I dont hate Sony. NO, I have never told everyone to buy a 360. That statement doesnt even make any sense. All I do is present people with facts if they ask my opinion. PS3' have less games, they have more problems with software, they are no longer backwards compatible, they require lengthy installs, or rather 2 games so far do. They are more expensive, as are the games. Many games come out on the 360 first. the 360 has, Halo and Gears. It is getting episodic content for GTA IV. In contrast the 360 breaks down a lot and is noisy. It has an ugly huge power pack and you need to buy an addon for wireless which is annoying. I know which sounds better to me. Yes, I am entitled to my opinion. If you don't like the PS3, give me it i'll gladly take it off your handsgo play your 360 fanboy I dont have a PS3, please read the thread properly before attempting to insult me. I officially give up. Sorry for trying to discuss something.

All I do is present people with facts if they ask my opinion. That's not what you said in your first post at all. incase you forgot.. When they ask me to recommend either the 360 or the PS3 I always say the 360, for all th reasons you all know already, you will have heard them all before. Until recently I was doing this based purley on my hatred for Sony consoles, you are basically contradicting yourself with every post. You say lack of BC now in the ps3 is bad, but the 360 has never done it. You have no rational reasons as to why you hate the ps3. you just do. And nothing will change that. I don't see how this can even turn into some sort of usefull discussion with you.

Huleboeren
Obviously it has less game - its been out for a year less. Also, thats like saying; im not buying a x360/ps3/wii because they have less games than my PS2 They all have to start somewhere New SKU in june should be backwards compatible somewhat - not sure why anyone would want that Huge ps2 library? how about you go turn on your ps2? :p What software problems? It requires 1 lengthy install Games cost pretty much the same (play.com Army Of Two as an example) Multiplatform games are out on the X360 first because the developers are having starter issues with the PS3 - just like they did with the PS2. COD4 and Burnout paradise are perfect examples that multiplatform games are not destined to suck on a certain platform. PS3 will be getting some sort of DLC for GTA - obviously not in the same league as MSs 50mill DLC thingy
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 27, 2008 Subscriber² Share Posted February 27, 2008 Again as I've said previously, I find it hard to believe how anyone could hate any console this generation. If they do, IMO they are doing it on a "mental" level - Eg blind loyalty, unfounded hatred of a corporation, because others do, they want to make it look like their choice/investment is best, im right/your wrong, ect. I was doing this based purley on my hatred for Sony consoles I mean, that just outright scares me. How can you show such strong hatred towards a god damn games console? Hate war, hate violence, hate killing, hate unfair trade, but hate a game playing device?
