Xerxes
ok wait, so is this the official release of the NEXT gran turismo? or is ti another placeholder while we wait for the REAL not gimped version? It's for the "placeholder" one, a little over the top for a demo though I think :p still since GT5 has slipped to 2009 and the GTHD tech demo isn't cutting it anymore (can only race the one track so many times  ), I'm just gonna have to get GT5P to get my GT fix till the full version hits store shelves next year :)

+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 29, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 29, 2008 but thats a 40GB... those don't play PS2 games... :( or will this one? Nope, the only way 40GB's will do BC is if software BC is ever rolled out in a firmware update.
ynnoj
throw in a dual shock 3 in there, why the sixaxis? ugh Because these bundles are for Europe and DualShock 3 hasn't got a confirmed date for Europe as of yet.

The difference is the 80GB still has the PS2 GPU, the only portion emulated is the Emotion Engine CPU which the cell is powerful to handle. The 60GB had both of the native components, and the 40GB is striped of both. Unless they pull off some miracle with GPU emulation, I really doubt you'll ever get that capability. They managed to get PS1 games running on the PSP through emulation. I believe they could get full software emulation done.
PiracyX
How can they bundle a demo game with the console? and not even the Dual Shock 3 controller included? Ill pass and so will alot of other people. I suppose they need to do this as it will a long time before we ever see the REAL GT5, prehaps Summer 2009. I'll hold out until MGS4 bundle hits with DS3. Europe is not going to get the freaking full game until sometime in 2009 and it will proberly be Q2-Q3. Its quite lame that they are selling the "Prologue" with the console but to be fair, they have nothing else! I am shocked as to why they haven't announced a MGS4 bundle for Europe. People who want this as their GT-fix will be happy for awhile but it's still not good enough. I love GT but i hate the way they are milking it and you can't really deny that. MGS4 will be the only game this year that will actually sell the PS3. Sony already know the Prologue won't sell that well, hence they are doing a bundle. I love GT but i hate the way they are milking it and you can't really deny that. They aren't milking anything, there has always been a prologue. I don't remember seeing many complaints in the past, as everyone knows it's a bite of the full thing for enthusiasts. We've only seen an uprise in complainers this generation. I am shocked as to why they haven't announced a MGS4 bundle for Europe. I gave my reasoning for that. The USA is the main market for Sony to focus on just now. MGS sells well in Europe/Japan and always has - Infact the PS brand just sells well in these regions. The USA is being mauled by the 360 just now, so it's the region that needs a little extra TLC/boost. We are getting the SE MGS4 still, the only thing we don't get is a bundled PS3 pack. Neither is Japan, it's merely a marketing decision to try and increase console sales where they are sluggish. MGS4 will be the only game this year that will actually sell the PS3. ... Sony already know the Prologue won't sell that well, hence they are doing a bundle. I've already proven Prologues past track record is not bad at all for something many of you class a "demo". 400,000 people (In Europe, over a million worldwide) paying ?20-?25 for GT4 Prologue, which has nothing on GT5 Prologue. I thought the Prologue has online play? It does, No online play, less cars, and less tracks. relates to 4b> Prologue. PiracyX
Don't say what you don't know.No one knows when GT5 full is coming yet. Well i did say GT5 wouldn't be out until 2009 in the past. I don't think even Polyphony/Sony know when its coming out. They aren't milking anything, there has always been a prologue. Well they can call them prologues if they like but they are still milking it. The reason there is a Prologue version is because they 1) Can't get final game out in time and 2) Want to cash in on the Series. USA has always been treated better than Europe. We paid more than Japan/USA for the PS3 in the start and we have to wait months upon months before we see games that are already out in the US. Agreed MGS4 will be a worldwide launch title but honestly, it needs to be. I've already proven Prologues past track record is not bad at all for something many of you class a "demo". Still, its not that great. Alot of people couldn't care less about the "small sample" of the full game they are offering. They clearly know what Prologue means and just want the full game. GT Prologue exists for one reason - they can't get the game finished in time.
troist
They aren't milking anything, there has always been a prologue.I don't remember seeing many complaints in the past, as everyone knows it's a bite of the full thing for enthusiasts. We've only seen an uprise in complainers this generation. The reason for more complaints this generation is the fact that theres now proper competition. The PS2 vs Xbox1 was fairly obvious as to which would come out on top. I feel like they are milking the GT franchise though. If it was just a "preview" and they weren't milking it then they'd give people who buy the prologue a discount for the full game. Instead they sell people the nearly finished game and then they go on to charge them for the finished game.
+Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 29, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 29, 2008 (edited) Jeez oh, you guys. Prologue is fan service, it always has been. There are lengthy waits between GT, there always has been. Prologue is to supplement those waits for people who can't wait. Would you rather it didn't exist and fans got nothing? Because Prologue not exisiting would NOT affect the time it takes for GT to come out, it would still be many years. GT5 Prologue is a snippet for GT5, it's not as if they spend lots of time making Prologue which affects GT5 development - It's the same assests from the same game. So you have, GT4 -> 3 years -> GT5 or GT4 -> 2 years -> GT5 Prologue -> 1 year -> GT5 I know what I think is better for fans, but oh no, you guys would rather have it the other way because it's "milking it". :/ Talk about making a deal out of nothing for the sake of it. You aren't a huge GT fan, don't buy Prologue, wait the 3 years, you are a huge GT fan, spending ?20 to get a meaty taster may be(Y)) in your eyes. If EA done a FIFA 08 Prologue, that would have ground to be frouned on, FIFA comes out every year, but for GT enthusiasts they have lengthy waiting times due to the effort that goes into GT. +Audioboxer Subscriber² Posted February 29, 2008 Author Subscriber² Share Posted February 29, 2008 (edited) GT Prologue exists for one reason - they can't get the game finished in time. I never knew they had a certain date to meet. PD standards are very high, they take whatever time they need to make a game and fans know that. If you're about to diss the amount of time it takes to make a GT game, maybe you should do some research on what exactly goes on when making the game. You may enjoy other racers more than GT, but there is not one racing game on the market that goes to the lengths GT does to perfect everything, graphics, to sounds to actual content. Infact, watch this new video interview yourself about why Prologue comes out, PS3Fanboy reports that Takau Imasaki, producer for Gran Turismo 5 at SCEA, recently talked a bit about the game and what's going on in the minds of Sony. The game is meant to be more user-friendly for the Western audience. Prologue is meant more to serve as a testing ground for the developers on creating the best online functionality possible, built through user-feedback and the experience of releasing one "game" before the full title. They're trying to catch up to Microsoft in that regard, they said. Car damage? It's coming, they said, but probably not in this first batch of games, we would imagine. Also, there won't be that much downloadable content, but perhaps a little. Video: http://n4g.com/ps3/News-117260.aspx LOL, Q: Is damage ever coming? A: It's coming, uhhh, you know how anal these guys are when making this game, they are perfectionists "When we do damage, we'll do it right" (Y) Edited February 29, 2008 by Audioboxer
