Current Slowness?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if I'm alone here or just nobody else experiencing it has created a thread yet, but I thought I'd let the staff know.

I've been experiencing some strange slowness for the past couple of days when it comes to Neowin, and only Neowin. It seems like each and every image has to load independently, which is strange since Firefox will generally load all images at once that are the same file (like the post icons). They just load one by one, or maybe two at a time, all the way down the page, no matter which page I'm viewing. Reply icons, post icons, forum icons... The layout loads up fine, just the images are having problems. And it's not like the images themselves are loading slowly; once they start to load they come up as fast as they normally would, they just don't start loading until the previous one is done.

I would normally attribute this to a Firefox issue or something of the like, but Neowin is the only site I'm experiencing such issues on. Has the maximum number of concurrent downloads been limited on the server? I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there.

And no, no cache issues or cookie issues; I automatically clear all that stuff every time the browser closes.

Hmmm... It seems like it might actually be a Firefox issue. I just tried it in IE and it seems fine, though it was doing the same thing yesterday... I guess I'll investigate a bit more.

EDIT: Well, creating a new profile has worked... I guess I jumped the gun on creating this thread :$

I know it was going slow the other day when the site was Dugg and visited by like 12k people at once but at the moment it seems alright.

Yeah, it appears I simply jumped the gun. Something was probably screwed up in the settings in my Firefox profile, creating a new one solved the issues.
