King Antonius
Hmmmm... 6 USB.... 3 Ethernet.... 2 HDMI....... Sounds like someone got the prototype specs muddled up with the real thing...
Xerxes
Hmmmm... 6 USB.... 3 Ethernet.... 2 HDMI....... Sounds like someone got the prototype specs muddled up with the real thing... That was what I was thinking and also didn't they cut out the dual HDMI because the PS3 couldn't actually handle running dual 1080p displays? I still remember Sony boasting for ages that it could do that...

I still remember Sony boasting for ages that it could do that... Yeah i think i was something to do with developers not being able to smoothley code a game to run on two screens at that resolution... Edit... Cool, just noiced im over 500 posts. *hapy dance* .... goes back to reality now
Julius Caro
I understand the USBS (I never liked the fact they took usb ports from the 40gb one), I understand the HDMI ... but 3 Gigabit ethernet ports?? WHAT FOR!??! AND WHAT-THE-FFFFF???? I want that PS3!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT FOR!??!AND WHAT-THE-FFFFF???? I want that PS3!!!!!!!!!! The original idea behind the 3 ethernets (i think) was so the ps3 could basically be used as a router.... i think... +StevoFC MVC Posted March 2, 2008 MVC Share Posted March 2, 2008 No chance a ps3 with all of those ports will ever exist. Atleast not outside of Japan.
randomnut
Those are prerelease specs. Sony touted for *ages* that it could utilize 2 HDMI ports, then ran with it's tail between it's legs when it quietly said it couldn't handle it. Hell, most games don't even run at 1080p, I dont think it could handle running games like cod4 natively at 1080p over the 1 port it does have anyway. obsolete_power
Okay now see, this is the first indication of it being a false rumor. 2 HDMI ports? First of all, I doubt the hardware can handle 2 HDMI ports and second of all, a second HDMI port would be 100% redundant as there is absolutely no point of a second HDMI port, what, do you need a second TV to show you the exact same thing??? Stupid

There isn't even splitscreen in UT3 most likely because it couldn't handle it without a ton of optimizations.

PyX
Why wouldn't one HDMI port output stuff at 1080p? Because honestly I don't see why one device would use 2 HDMI ports, so this may be the reason but why??
Nicholas-c Veteran Posted March 2, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 2, 2008 to my knowledge PS3 handles 1080p fine O.o just the developers haven't gotten around to it yet
sn00pie
wow, very excessive but then again this is for the premium high-def enthusiasts... i don't need half of the stuff in this monster playstation. for the love of god 6 usb ports and 3 ethernet ports, whats the point in all that? :|
The Teej
If they added backwards compatibility to that thing, I'd buy one of those for sure. Sure, it'll probably be ?425, but I couldn't give a crap. I'd save and save until I had it.
