Narc2500
Why is everything doubled in the quote? :s I would like to know that too. If it's true, then that would be a great update. Hopefully we would be able to view YouTube videos on our PSPs. I hope Remote Play is a lot faster as they state. Game * PLAYSTATION 3 Network titles can be played under PSP [Remote Play] under Game. WooSH
ok aside from the annoying down syndrome that is expressed in the post, those features, although would be absolutely great, seem like a fake to me. - 1080p output on PSP? it hardly has that resolution. - Adobe Flash 9 support by using flash memory...what does flash MEMORY have to do with flash PLAYER? - 802.11g support has been added as a feature. im pretty sure this is limited by hardware, if the hardware cant support it then you cant just 'update' it. if it could, it would have been added A LONG time ago, as g is standard. - Shockwave Player? Highly doubt that as it is REALLY resource intensive for something like a PSP. - Sony LocationFree Player to improve picture quality in H.264? Correct me if im wrong but H.264 is an HDDVD format, why would sony use that? Also your going to transmit HD content from a remote location? Good luck with that. Nothing more than high expectations and a huge bowl of BS.
Coldgunner
h264 is a codec, not just for HD video
WooSH
^ but its a really intensive format, used primarily for highresolution movies right? so h264 on a screen so small would be pointless?
Coldgunner
No, PSP already supports h264 in the mp4 container
Narc2500
Having the ability to play HD content without having to recode it to a lower format is a good idea. Anyway, I read somewhere that Sony is going to make Blu-Ray movies playable in the PSP, so why wouldn't it be possible?
Xerxes
Looks good, however, things too good to be true usually arn't..so I'm not holding my breath over it (still, would be great if it was) - Adobe Flash 9 support by using flash memory...what does flash MEMORY have to do with flash PLAYER? I'll take a stab at it myself. I think what is ment is the flash memory is used as sort of virtual memory, as the PSP (particularly the PSP Phat) has hardly any actual RAM, so doing that might help get around that limitation a little bit, maybe? - Sony LocationFree Player to improve picture quality in H.264? Correct me if im wrong but H.264 is an HDDVD format, why would sony use that? Also your going to transmit HD content from a remote location? Good luck with that. Well H.264 isn't a format, it's a codec that can be used by a format. Apple use it with Quicktime for example. Also it doesn't have to be HD content, although that is what it is mostly used for I beleive. I use it myself when encoding videos for my PSP (MP4 format), as it helps keep the file size down but still be good quality. WelshBluebird
Would love it if it was true. But - "802.11g"?? There's no way there can just update it like that, so unless the PSP slim has 802.11g built in and no-one knew about it, then its not possible (you can connect to most 802.11g hotspots with the PSP anyway, as most of backwards compatible with 802.11b)

Possible, but unlikely - The PSP doesn't have as many buttons as a PS3 controller, and there would be a lot of LATENCY in video frames and keystrokes. * Real, Quicktime, and WMV audio and video codecs are now supported. These are all closed formats. I doubt that Microsoft, and I very much doubt that Apple would work with Sony to port their closed-source binary-only codecs to the PSP platform. * [shockwave Player] has been added as a feature. Shockwave player is very much obsolete and isn't used much anymore, everything is in Flash thesedays * PSP web browser has been updated to allow compatibility with current websites. PSP web browser has been updated to allow compatibility with current websites. Current Websites? what the heck does Current Websites mean? That is much too vague to mean anything * [Adobe Flash Player 9] has been added as a feature, using the Memory Stick Pro Duo as flash memory. I can believe that. Adobe sometimes port to other platforms. Not sure what the relation to flash memory is. * [Remote Play] has been improved by the PS3 outputting 1080p to the PSP with larger icons text and better video quality. Remote Play now transmits at 11 mbps per sec. The PSP doesn't even support 1080p!!!! why would something be designed to waste bandwidth, especially on a handheld! * 802.11g support has been added as a feature. I am sure that this is a hardware limitation, Possible that it will be supported for future hardware revisions * RSS [Video Streaming] has been added as a feature. I have never heard of RSS Video Streaming... RSS is an XML format for publishing information updates All-in-all, this list has been made up and is completely untrue. TheNay
What surprises me is this "Real, Quicktime, and WMV audio and video codecs are now supported". They bought rights to the codecs I guess, but funny seeing a MS codec on a Sony product. Good for them tho.

SnowRanger13
Looks more like a wish list then a feature list. But OMG if thats true! Playing PS3 games on PSP would be so badass. WelshBluebird
well there's already WMA support for music, so I don't see why WMV video support is so unbelievable. And as for playing PSN titles via the PSP, some full PS3 games support it, so again, I don't see why PSN titles doing it is that unbelievable. But still - I think this is a more of a wish list tbh

Just not much support for it from other titles. As for people thinking the PSP is going to output at 1080p, I don't think it means that. I believe what it's getting at is a 1080p signal from your PS3/TV will show a "better" output on your PSP - If you use remote play just now, you'll know the XMB in remote play is nowhere near as sharp/good looking as the native PSP XMB. It's quite blurry.
