REALfreaky
Hey guys, I know that there's at least one other topic on here asking pretty much the same question, but I require an extra feature. First, like the other topic, I would like a defrag tool that defrags my HD while the computer is idle for 10 minutes and stop defragging on un-idle. But unlike the other topic, I would like it to check the current fragmentation percentage and only defrag is the fragmentation is over a certain level (say, 20% fragmentation). I'm hoping that something like this will keep my hard drive in tip-top shape while not shortening its life-span with unnecessary defrags. Also, on a side note, I'm wondering if that having at least 15% free disk space really makes a difference or not; or does it only really require about double the size of the largest file on the disk? Thanks in advance for any helpful replies. :)
.Cameron.
I'm not sure if this product can meet all of your criteria, but I know that Diskeeper can automatically defragment your hard drive in the background (not entirely sure if it's idle-specific or not) using minimal system resources. WastedJoker
Diskeeper can defrag while you're using your pc and so can Raxco (my preferred choice). I've heard diskeeper has issues with Vista though...
spikey_richie
+1 for Diskeeper. Also quite like Defraggler by Pirisoft (or CCleaner fame) http://www.defraggler.com/ although this is a manual operation.
