~impuLsive
How does Neowin deal with google about this? Neowin is a large community, and anyone can click the ads so many times that It will be considered Fraudulent. Anyone mind telling me this as I have this issue right now, and Google emailed me about the fraudulent activity and that they may disable our account If It exposes a risk to their advertisers and so forth. Thanks!
+StevoFC MVC Posted March 8, 2008 MVC Share Posted March 8, 2008 My account got deleted years ago because of this. You can't do anything about it really. Back when my account got closed they wouldn't even tell you the ip address of the people supposedly doing the fraudulent clicks. I would assume a site like neowin doesn't have as many problems because of how many hits the site gets. The ratio of "fraudulent" clicks would be less likely noticed. ~impuLsive
Yeah. Same rules apply. They mentioned they can't release any information about it. About your comment of it being less noticed, what If It's coming from one IP and someone clicks the ads 5,000 times in a day? Would that not raise a red flag to Neowin? Then, when Neowin gets a warning letter, that same person or another person can do it 5,000 times again the next week and BOOM, account closed and no pay. jokeripa
How much does Adsense give per click?
~impuLsive
That would depend on the advertiser I believe.

P!P
Yeah, I've had many sites with AdSense. Ironically, the site I had with the least hits (~200 daily) made the most money. It was a site about HD and HD ads were giving $2-3 a click.
Sean B. Veteran Posted March 12, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 12, 2008 I was in the same position when I owned MessengerMad.com a few years ago. I had no clue as to why we were accused of tampering with the clicks on the ads. I tried to talk to them, but support was crap. They blacklisted the domain, hah. MrMB
Yeah, they're really strict about this. I was running a small site a while back and i was trying to modify the size of the ads (to an allowed size) but stupidly edited the code directly and made a typo. My account was cancelled and they wouldn't budge however often I emailed them. So the moral is be careful.
generalt
Is the IP address the only way Google can track fraudulent clicks? If so, couldn't someone just make a site and click on the ads over and over through a proxy server?
