Motorstorm 2 gets monster trucks, lots of water

Recommended Posts

It seems information regarding Evolution Studios' sequel to last year's hit Motorstorm is finally surfacing. Some scans from the latest issue of OPM reveal not only the new locales featuring water, water everywhere, but monster trucks as drivable options. There's more info in the scans uploaded by C.Birch on the PS3 Forums, waiting for you to read them. But the main points are thus: Water. Monster trucks. Driving. Apparently, dodging vehicles once you're ousted from your own plays some kind of part, but we won't know until we see more.

From NeoGAF:

From someone who has the mag:

- Motorstorm 2 set in a tropical setting. Evolution Studio's went to Hawaii on a fact finding mission

- First video to be shown (on the 12th March now) is all CG

- OPM have seen an early build of the game but are sworn to secrecy, but say it "looks amazing"

- CG video includes some clues about the game

- Water hazards

- Number of players supported online is going to be increased

- Atleast one new vehicle type, Monster Trucks shown in CG video

- Release date under wraps but OPM UK wouldn't be surprised to see it in time for Christmas

- More coming soon!

After all the bad press about the first MS1 video and how the final product varied so greatly, why the hell would they go the same route again?

A release this year would be very nice (Y)

They have a wee snippet about that in the article.

At least they are admitting to it being CG beforehand, you can't really give "bad press" for that at all.

the game was 'a hit' as they say, because it was a launch title, and thats it. unless they really overhaul this game, it will sell just ok

Actually the game was pretty awesome all around except for a few key features that should have been polished. Hopefully this time around they will bring us shorter loading times, up to 4 players locally and a more user friendly online experience.

Meh, Motorstorm was pretty average and they are gonna need to do something really special if they want 2 to sell. Still I'm hanging out for these guys to release the next-gen version of WRC (couple that with a modified version of the Motorstorm engine and damn would it be sweet, well I think so anyway).

That's the thing, it wasn't awesome because it lacked those 2 key features: short load times and 4 player split screen. That's why mario kart still kicks motorstorm's ass when it comes to fun.

Like jesse said, it was only a hit because there was really nothing else to buy, it was my first game too.

Hopefully the music will be better. When the PS3 came out and it was one of the big launch titles, our demo PS3 at the CC I work at was playing that god-awful cheesy music over and over. I wanted to shoot it.

yeah, this was one of the games that could have used a custom soundtrack option. most likely this'll be implemented in MS2.
