Changing Colours of a Pic

Question

Hi, I was trying to change colours of parts of a graphic and I am getting nowhere. Can you guys advise me?

I am trying to change the blue colour of the book to a brown and the darker blue section to a darker blue. And with the film, I was trying to change the orange to a green.

I tried using PhotoShop's variations feature but that changes everything.

or u can select the area with the lasso tool, then go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation and just from there do whatever. (so if u want to change the blue book, click on the drop down list and select blues, and just change the color.

hrm.. i think it's somewhere like Image > Adjustments > Color Change or something like that.. it's one of the coolest features of photoshop! :p you define which colors will be edited, and you can change hue/saturation/luminosity.. it's the best way to easily change colors across the image.. just look for it!
