JoeC
I've just bought a 60gb ToastStation 3 and I'm looking to connect it to my 20" LCD monitor. I've been told I can use the HDMI->DVI cable for the video but I'd lose all the audio. Is there any way of getting the audio while playing it through my monitor? Monitor: Acer P203 W Speakers: Vivanco Freya 2.1 I'm living in England, if it's any help. Thanks :)

JoeC
What kind of adapter? And can anyone else confirm that? Thanks :)
Digitalx
One like this i assume. I have Logitech X-530 speakers, they came with one like this.
Xerxes
As Digix said, I've actually got it set up the same way with my 22"/24" Monitors (and I also have Logitech X-530 speakers). Basically what you want is an adaptor that will take 2 RCA plugs and has a 3.5mm mini jack(s) at the other end, it doesn't really need to have 3 jacks like in the picture, as you will only ever get stereo out of the AV Multi out port on the PS3 (and you only need 1 stereo jack for that). I hope that made some sense?
Vlad
As a slight side note, since I'm also considering buying a PS3 to use with my monitor... Doesn't the PS3 require a HDCP capable device to operate at HD resolutions? I seem to remember a big fuss when the PS3 first came out and the HDMI port had communication problems with some TVs due to HDCP. Can someone more knowledgeable than I explain the PS3s *HD* connection requirements?

HDMI needs HDCP connection to display properly which the monitor needs to support and it can carry over HDMI to DVI. Component connection can support HD too. Vlad
Right, thanks Digitx. But what about HDMI -> DVI? Wont, for example, JoeC's monitor have to support HDCP in order for him to be able to go from the PS3's HDMI to DVI?

JoeC
Can I use a HDMI->DVI cable then a DVI->VGA adapter to get it working on my monitor? :p If not, will my 17" with a DVI input work? It's getting confusing >_<

If you want to use VGA, you'll need to get a converter box. Your 17" with DVI will work as long as it supports HDCP.
