More MotorStorm Cometh

IGN unleashing first teaser trailer of Sony's tropics-bound MotorStorm sequel today.

by Matt Wales, IGN UK

UK, March 12, 2008 - You probably think you already know about MotorStorm 2 if you've been following the torrent of information leaks springing forth from the internet over the last couple of weeks.

Here's what you should definitely know though: if you swing by IGN later on today at 6pm GMT, you can feast your eyes on the first MotorStorm 2 teaser trailer. Despite some haggling, Sony adamantly refused to let us spoil the surprise and give you a sneak-peak at the game so you'll just have to believe us when we say it has the potential to blow your socks clean off your lower appendages.

So far, it's been revealed that MotorStorm 2 does away with the barren desert landscapes of the first game, replacing all that brown with lush vegetation in a tropical island setting. It features water hazards, destructible scenery and monster trucks.

Finally, online play is rumored to be complemented by four-player split-screen race-offs, which is always nice in a retro sort of way.

So, just to recap, that's 6pm GMT, today, Wednesday March 12. Be there or be completely indifferent.

They said it would be a CGI trailer right?

What is there to be so excited about? :p It would make for an awesome movie that Id definitely pay to see in the cinemas but we wont see any in-game stuff :/

the trailer is up now. i can't view it because i'm at work at the moment though. people at GAF are saying that it's all CGI, but they're pretty excited about the new environment and the overall look of the game.

Coming This Fall: MotorStorm 2

+ Posted by Jeff Rubenstein // Social Media Manager

You may have wondered what that counter was ticking down to on top of Threespeech, or read bits of information on sites like on Eurogamer, or recently dropped by IGN for the video reveal - but here?s the news in its entirety: MotorStorm 2 is coming this fall.

The MotorStorm style of anything-goes racing is moving from the mountainous desert to a lush Pacific island, replete with thick swamps, dense jungle, towering peaks and steaming volcanoes. You?ll be rampaging through thick mud, tangled undergrowth, swift flowing rivers, and searing lava pools of this new location with all of the vehicles familiar to players of the first MotorStorm: ATVs, rally cars, buggies, motorbikes, race trucks, mudpluggers and Big Rigs. Joining the cast is the new monster truck class, likely to become a fan favorite (check out the video belowIt?s still a bit early, but here?s what we can confirm as far as features are concerned: 16 new multi-route tracks, 16 players can race head-to-head online, and a hugely requested feature hits MotorStorm: 4-player split-screen mode.ode.

We?ll have more updates as MotorStorm 2 nears release, but in the meantime, take a look at the new environments and new monster truck in this just-released trailer.

4 player split screen means I will actually pick this one up. More games should take notice of this IMPORTANT feature. Some people enjoy playing with the company of their friends.

Pointless, sick of CGI trailers/teasers.

I just hope the second game brings more to the table in terms of variety.

The first one was short and extremely boring, lacking game-modes and stuff to do, you have a game revolved about dirty racing and crashing, yet there are no 'destruction' based modes ... Bravo.
