This was introduced in one of the past few firmware revisions. Good feature.

Actually it does. All throughout 2.10 while watching a movie my controller would turn itself after some time. Not because of dead batteries, but because of this very feature. I'll have to dig it up.

Same here, even after watching a 2+ hour movie, the controller is still on.

I think that feature is bugged or something because my controllers never turn off.

Most likely. Look around on the Playstation forums... it seems as if some do and some don't. Perhaps this patch fixed it for those that could never get it working?

This controller turning off is an oddity, I swear it has happened to me, I fell asleep playing a game and woke up and the controller was off, od.

What actually happened was whilst you where asleep, your subconscious thought "oh noes I have left teh ps3 controller on!", so you actually then turned it off yourself, whilst being asleep. ;)

I can turn my alarms off on my phone in the morning, somehow when I am asleep I know the exact buttons to press to get through the menu.

you fell asleep while playing a game?...!

Disgraceful I know.

It was at stupid o'clock in the morning, like 4am, I started to nod off after getting killed so often in Uncharted on Crushing, I thought it would be easy since I had unlocked weapons and stuff, but nope, they disable all that, crushing really means crushing, lol.

I completely don't remember where it's from but I saw a site a while back, they listed several ideas, two of which included:
  • An alarm that sits on your table, but when it goes off it races off the table and hides somewhere in your bedroom until you find it. All the time, it beeps loudly.
  • An alarm that sits above you (mounted on the roof), and each time you touch it, it goes into snooze mode but it also wheels itself closer to the roof until eventually it's pretty much attatched to the roof and you have to get up to reach it.

You could always try that. :p
