Scazza
Looks like I may purchase the UK Version of Prologue (even though I have the Japanese Version) due to me not being able to understand and manouver round the online section. Considering its only ?17.99 I think it will be worth it. Also the UK Version looks to have a few more things than the Japanese Version.

But for online it's still probably better to have your own language.

Thats cool to know about that patch, but seriously, when the online patch was released, it must of taken me 20 - 30 attempts over 2 months to actually download it! Was stupid as I kept on getting that error coming up all the time! So I expect that this will be same if/when released. But also yea, the Online Navigation is a nightmare in Japanese. insomniac9
When I showed my friends the screen shots they just said wow, they said that it looks a lot better than PGR4 and Forza 2 which I have to agree with. I told them that the top gear test track was going to be in the game, the sheer joy on their faces said it all.
Keito
I wonder if there's a setting where you can choose on which side you want to have the wheel in the in-car view... I don't think I'm going to be any good (at first) with the wheel on the right O_o
Xerxes
I wonder if there's a setting where you can choose on which side you want to have the wheel in the in-car view... I don't think I'm going to be any good (at first) with the wheel on the right O_o I doubt it, I'm guessing they will do 1 of 2 things: 1) Localise the dashes, so the steering wheel is on the correct side for all cars depending on your region. or 2) The steering wheel will be on the side based on where the car was from. (i.e. US cars it's on the left, Japanese on the right etc) I'm guessing it will most likely be 2) However, it doesn't bother me which side it's on really as you get used to it pretty quick, it may "feel" odd to begin with but it'll pass :)
Vortex566
Oh I wish I never had the Japanese version ! I really am tempted to buy the UK version as well. This game is amazing, I showed it to my friend who is a 360 " fanboy " his jaw dropped ! This game is so much better in terms of looks over Forza it's not even close. Gameplay well I am impressed by GT5P but I still think Forza is more of a simulation then GT5P.
sn00pie
i'm pretty sure its going to be option 2, the side of the wheel depends on the car.

carmatic
from those comparison pics, you can see that the few things which sets gt5 from reality are more often to do with the lighting conditions and the camera used to take the picture, than the game graphics itself... oh and not to mention the drivers always wear helmets in gt5 but you can see a person's face inside the car in the reality shots, thats just about it really but yeah,i never knew that the replay mode had a different quality setting than game mode... i guess it makes the game better for sharing replays youve saved, but if it goes along that direction maybe we could have some 'effects editor' where you could key in when during the replay you want some slow motion or some extra blur or whatever, so you can make it all like the fast and the furious and stuff if you want

carmatic
the lighting that sets it apart from reality. the thing is, 'reality' is as the camera captured it... before, game graphics were so different from camera pictures that you can tell immediately which was which... now, the difference between pictures taken by different cameras or camera settings are often greater than the difference between the gt5 graphics and the camera pictures.... like, a few years ago you could pass a game screenshot off as real if it had lots of things going on which are not ideal for photography such as very low light or motion blur, and if you took the same scene with a camera under the same conditions, and the effects hide all the little details which will give the game screenshot away... but now gt5 is different, the light setting they use are the same as those in magazines and car brochures, and the graphics have nothing to hide... you could take a different picture with a different camera or something and the cars in gt5 will go from being too shiny to too dull... well maybe on average gt5 will look too shiny, but imho thats because its the common internet pictures which are too dull ,because of the cheap cameras they use which dont capture all the details, like those pictures look like they are used for listing your car on the classifieds, not for making a big poster to hang in your room ::edit:: why cant they use a fast pixel shader based blurring method like they did in crysis when you are in-game? like it will make a 1080p game show the same amount of detail as a 720p game, and 720p will show even less detail, but the lack of jaggies will be worth it, since when you are moving the jaggies are alot more noticable than the things which are supposed to be rendered... so in the replay everthing looks nicer AND sharper and it will be worth watching Edited March 17, 2008 by carmatic

Xerxes
i dunno wtf is up with the gt5 shot...that skyline model looks like its taken from gt2 Nah, that car really looks like that (that car is also in GT4 as well). I dunno but I've always found the 4-door R34 Skylines butt ugly (2-door is awesome though).
sundayx Veteran Posted March 18, 2008 Veteran Share Posted March 18, 2008 So are people just posting random pictures there and calling it GT5?
sn00pie
That Skyline photo is from GT5:Prologue... you cannot get the "Blitz Skyline" in GT:HD, and you can't get that track with the drifting flags in any previous Gran Turismo. So it's obviously Prologue...
Vandalsquad
The screenshots from the replay mode look very nice, lets just wait and see how good it looks in play time.. Hopefully the simulation is top notch but as thats what Gran Turismo is about... Not graphics.
