The Sims 3

The site is translated from French, it still a good read and the screen captures are quite interesting too. :D

Sims 3: World Exclusivity: our special correspondent at the presentation presses!

Wow looks really really good, Im going to be tempted to get this. But is it going to have a million expansion's like the other ones, or is it going to be short sweet and to the point?

I wouldn't mind the current Sims 2 graphics, but just improve the mechanics of the game...Because from seeing that, it looks like crap, to be honest. But then again, this is just development stages, hopefully they will clear out all the jaggeys and optimize it so you don't need some super computer (but it is EA, right?). Hopefully my rig can handle it :x

The shots look better then any other SIM game right now, but I still always hated those games, so no go for me.

im hoping for something a bit better than this tbh (visual wise) not a great improvement on the sims 2 - only features which could have easily been adapted into the sims 2... look forward to future developments.

  • 1 year later...

Going to revive this, as The Sims 3 is released tomorrow (or today if you ordered online and received it today :D).

I've only played it for a little while, creating a Sim is really good and detailed, I love it. I love the fact there are no loading screens after the initial ones.

However... is anyone else experiencing 'lag' and 'stuttering' when moving about? i.e. Zoom in/out, fly across the town?

I don't see why I should be, I'm playing this on a GTX 275 (see specs below)... and my FPS is usually about 150+ if vsync is turned off.

I'm on max settings, but turned down settings and it's the same.

Any ideas?

disable pixel shader 2.0

Oh right, how would I do that? Through TS3 options, or Nvidia control panel?

If that got rid of the lag/stutter, it would be fantastic - it's the only thing that's spoiling it for me at the moment.

So at least it's not just my system then. Hopefully if EA can do something about it, they'll patch it quick.

The game options, is a check mark in the grafics options.

One thing - does disabling it make it look bad? I'm really surprised it struggles with a GTX 275, thought that would have been able to handle pixel shader 2.0 - or maybe it's just bad programming

Edit: Nope, didn't work!

I want the Collector's Edition, but I am NOT paying $70... maybe when it's $40 I'll get it.

Check out this woman, she keep calls Collector's Edition Collection LOL
